A plainclothes Seattle police officer investigating drug dealing in North Seattle shot and seriously wounded a motorist late Thursday after the man reportedly drove a stolen car at the officer.
Now investigators must determine whether the officer followed department policies, which strongly discourage firing at moving vehicles and advise officers who find themselves in the path of a vehicle to try to "move out of the way, if possible, rather than discharging their firearm."

Righteous or Bogus?
The last lineof the article: But the policy allows officers to shoot at a moving vehicle if the vehicle itself poses a threat.
If my memory serves me at all well, they'e pulling the trigger pretty often in Seattle, and they've been justified.
Thank God the officer is alive.
Generally a justified shooting. Rightfully so.
I know what you mean. That's why I posted. It seems the recent P.I. stories aout police firing their weapons have been good ones. This one is a rewrite and the second one had more info to seemingly justify the shoot, I thought.
This is Seattle's PC Police force at work. The Department has the lowest morale in its history - precisely because of idiot policies like this.
"Officer, you are to pirouette smartly out of the way and allow the criminal that tried to kill you to proceed on his way to kill a Seattle citizen somewhere down the road!"
Such BS policies are called "Community Policing!" That's NW liberal-speak for "don't do anything because you might upset the minority community"!
Is there hope for the P.I.? I've read so many Moonbat articles from that source... Their reputation preceeds them.
It is a wonder why the Seattle P.D. has any competent officers on the street.Perhaps the the "real officers" should change places with the bean counters and politicians.Having a difficult time understanding the comment regarding the officer and as to whether he "got in the path of the car".
I used to live in Tukwila, a suburb of Seattle. Had my car broken into twice, stolen and wrecked once. If cops shot at all the stolen cars in Seattle, half the rides would look like IBM punch cards.
But they still have more than a few good men. This officer shot once, called the ambulance, and the recidivist perp is alive in the hospital. The sad part is the public will be deprived of this officer's excellent abilities for a while.
Maybe.
It seem to me this article studiously avoids portraying the incident in anything but neutral, factual terms. They even note that the incident took place "where narcotics activity and prostitution have been continuing problems." !!
Way more than a few...the vast majority are good, hard working, honest cops.
Seattle Police Force leadership has been less than stellar for quite a while now. At least the three recent chiefs have been way way too weak in my estimation - they were more politician than cop!! If we had had good mayors, they would have been fired!
If we had 40% less liberal-pinkycolored citizens, we might have a chance of getting a good mayor!
