He's really a pretty amazing man... obcessed with business and to him Music is business... I believe, from interviews I've seen with him, he leans more conservative than liberal, too.

Yeah, I'd say Gene is a Libertarian, more than anything. He's an odd combination. He doesn't smoke, drink or do drugs, but it seems like anything goes, sexually.

He has said in interviews that his favorite book is The Holy Bible. Being who he is, and having been raised a good Jewish boy, that's just strange no matter how you slice it!

After posting about him being behind Foreigner, I've tried to find something to back up the claim. It appears I may be flat out wrong on that one.

Guess the "top of my head" needs a tune-up, eh?

The Stones have used prompters for years. Their IMAX movie, released in the early 90s, has several shots where the lyrics are rolling by, and, my personal favorite, stage directions. When it was time for Keith to sing "Happy," the prompter read something like "KEITH SINGS MICK OFF STAGE." Hilarious.

>>The Smithereens<< Fantastic band.

Best of all Pat Dinizio is a conservative, who absolutely despised Bill Clinton.

I sometimes wonder if all the sex stuff is more talk than action... he and Shannon do have two very bright, funny kids... they are not the typical Hollywood brats... the kids joke (in their TV show) that Shannon wears the pants at home. He is an intersting guy.

Frampton's Camel was a pretty good band. "Wind of change" is a good rock album. I caught FC in the early 70's at the Spectrum in Philly.

Hip-hop isn't rock. With all of the ripped off rock riffs in "hip-hop" tracks, they are going to have to induct a lot of rock artists into the hip-hop hall of fame.

Meanwhile it looks like the Stooges (who influenced a lot of other rock and roll bands) got overlooked.

Stranger yet on that Ramones lineup is that the original drummer, Tommy, who played on the first 3 albums was not inducted.

Jello Biafra used to play Heino albums at Dead Kennedy shows to aggrivate the crowds.

If there is ever a hardcore punk hall of fame, Ronald Reagan and Heino will have to be inducted as influential figures.

Classic. Gotta tell ya, the Stones put on the best Stadium shaw that I've been to. Missed the IMAX movie, though.

At the show I saw, they had a long 'catwalk' to what turned out to be a much smaller stage out in the center of the floor. About halfway through their show, they stopped playing, walked on the catwalk to the 'ministage' and played a great set. Trying to create an intimate, small-bar feel in a 50000 seat stadium.

It worked, the crowd went wild. It must have been really cool for the folks with front row seats. And like I said, with my bird's eye view (albeit from 100 feet above!) there weren't any teleprompters.

I heard it wasn't finalized yet, but when and if it is, I will be there. I haven't seen them since the US festival and am hoping or a better show this time around.

The Stooges have their first new album in 35 years out on March 20th. They'll be playing SXSW in Austin the week before that release.

What is more offensive are the artists who've been overlooked and the "need" of the execs at the Hall to nominate "contemporary" names.

Danny Fields has said that the thing has turned into a joke and all it amounts to is a $50 raise in the guarantee price for old R&B acts if they can promote that they are in "the Hall".

Rush has some great songs, but for me personally since I'm a CT fan I'll say Cheap Trick.
Frankly from a more objective POV and based on commercial success Rush, but then I think the general public and their taste in music is,.... fickle (being generous and clean for the sake of those easily offended) and that CT ought to have had a longer run at the top.
I think if the RnRHOF were not so full of bovine excrement both bands would have been in during their first or second year of eligibility, my two cents anyway.

"...For his part, Hagar -- who split with the band in 1996 and clashed with Eddie on a 2004 reunion tour -- says he will be there. "Everyone wants to see a good train wreck, but I'd rather see a beautiful flight," he says. "I'd have no problem sharing a stage with David...."

Both deserve to be in there equally imo...I love CT and Rush both and they both toured together in the 70s and the rock world wouldn't be what it is today without them.
