We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail.
When I was 5, my grandmother died - my father's mother - she had a wonderful singing voice, and the lullabies she sang to my father, he sang to me.
So not only did I get my love of singing from her...I learned that Singing IS love...talk about "lasting things"...
anyway, I digress:))..She died, and I remember thinking...but wait Grandmother has died, and yet the world goes on...how can that be?? Then this thought: Well, then one day I'll be gone too. The world can NOT go on without me...CAN it? Such is the self-centeredness of children. It was a scary thought, but the beginning of growing up.
Now, from the perspective of several decades later, the thought that I'll pass from this earthly life, and the world will go on...my children, my nephews & nieces, maybe grandchildren... all the things that we love & cherish...and beyond will survive me, And I'm truly comforted by that thought, in contrast to the one I had when I was a mere 5 years old....
Then this: I look up to the heavens (another interest-gift from my father) and again am comforted and awed of course by God's creation, and my small part in it... Add to that the idea that when we look up at Orion, say, ( it IS winter..), we are looking at it as it was Ages ago...oh my! What does THAT signify? One thing it says to me is this... look...look and see the past, just as generations have before you, and will who follow you. The past, the present, the future seem to co-exist in eternity, lasting things, and again, love and comfort surround me.

Yesterday we were talking of the evocative memory of scents. For me, the scent of honeysuckle hanging on the evening breeze, the enticing aroma of magnolia blossoms and caress of a moonlight breeze, redolent with sweet and spicy tea olive, ahhh... that is summer.

That is a scent I remember as well...
Time to be off. Lots to do.
...but sometimes God calls us to go in another direction.
That's how we found the wonderful church we were in 14 years, and subsequently found another like it when we moved to the new home 30 miles away.
for me it is freshly mown hay (summer), freshly baked bread (maternal grandmother) and interestingly enough, the smell of wet paint reminds me of hubby and I starting our new life together as 20 somethings. I repainted the entire house before we moved in. It was a big ole 8 room 4 Square. It took me forever to get it painted.
8 weeks ago I had surgery on my leg-just above my knee)- by my skin cancer doctor....(the same one who did my ear)
My regular GP had done the initial surgery and thought he got all the margins, but this doctor said further surgery was necessary because they didn't get all the margins.
It seemed a simple surgery....but with lots of stitches.
5 weeks later I returned because it looked funny and sorry (pus) was coming out of little pin holes.
He said I had a kind of allergic reaction to the sutures?
Jemian & I compared notes and it seemed we had the same thing.
However, my understanding was to go home, forget about it and carry on with life, exercise, etc.
But here it is 8 weeks after surgery.....3 weeks after my last visit, and it still looks wicked.
I called a few minutes ago....They're working me in this morning.....
I don't know if there's a simple solution.....or will they have to reopen the surgery site....or what?
I have confidence in God that even this, He knows and is sovereign.
I truly covet your prayers...
This thing is unsightly and irritating.
