Anderson Cooper has inked a new multiyear pact with CNN, according to sources inside the all news network. Under the terms of the new deal, the host of the CNN primetime show Anderson Cooper 360 can continue as an occasional contributor to 60 Minutes.
Although the network would not comment directly on the matter, CNN President Jon Klein said, "Anderson Cooper is an exceptional journalist, and his dedication in going after important stories wherever they occur makes him a natural fit for CNN. We look forward to more of his groundbreaking work in the years to come."
Coopers previous contract with CNN was worth around $2 million a year, according to sources, and his new pay is more than double that amount. CNN has also made Cooper the center of an unprecedented multimillion-dollar promotional campaign.
Last December his newscast was up more than 30% in the key 25-54 news demo.
Coopers new CNN deal comes in the wake of months of speculation that he might make a full-time leap to CBS. The 39-year-old Cooper had been courted by CBS to take over the reins of the networks ratings-challenged morning newscast The Early Show.
CBS News brass has wanted to make over The Early Show for some time, but with Cooper now not available, the news division is struggling to come up with what talent to turn to next. For the time being, the show is staying with the co-host trio of Harry Smith, Hannah Storm and Julie Chen, along with news anchor Russ Mitchell. Co-host Rene Syler left last December.
San Francisco rejoice.
"It's, like, for the poetry, man..."
I thought that wages were based on the productivity of that particular person, and not on the price of male pristutues. But I was wrong.
I guess that explains the increase in the number of billboards I see advertising his program.
Maybe Katie Couric will shortly become available...
His mother is Gloria Vanderbilt...don't think he needs a penny. I don't know why this is exclusive either. Hardly even news...what the heck?
Oh my, DNCNN hires another Liberal. Talk about earthshattering.
Pray for W and Our Troops
Doesn't he have a runway show to do... to model some of his mom's jeans?
What's the matter? You disagree?
That's was the seventh time my body was photoshopped by a celebrity.
The good news is that CNN will not be pulling themselves out of the toilet for the next few years since they've cemented their slide down the ratings path. Like in sports, its always nice to see your opponents re-signing players or coaches you know will never get over the hump.
With what? Homosexuality? You bet?
Don't try for a moment to try to sell me "morality" because the "public" buys it. Garbage.
I don't care if 100% of America or the world is taken in by your crap. I won't buy it.
Only GOD sets what is moral, and what is Law.
You lose.
The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the scepter of the rulers.
ISAIAH 14:5:
Well, poof dee doo!
Nice to see Anderson Vanderbilt breaking through the door of the leather closet.
No, I was actually talking about economic theory. A wage is determined by a worker's productivity. And I don't care about the sexuality of people on TV, unless they're too effeminate. (But I don't watch CNN anyway.)
Let me use your own Logic then:
- If a website make Economic sense and money by torturing little girls, then it is Good in your world?
Why not? You just said so?
- What if it makes good Economic sense (and make you money) if we had child molesters as TV hosts? Suppose "The View" had the HIGHEST ratings in history by hiring such a person. Then, ergo, it is Good - yes?
I know what you tried to do. You tried to appeal to economic conservatives by your pitiful argument. The problem is - I am a Christian who recognizes that God is Sovereign.
Let me tell you something - and please know - - this may be the most important thing you have ever heard in your life.
You are going to Hell. I know this because if you were saved, you would have told me following my quote of scripture. Read what that website says. You are going there.
There is only one way to change your destiny. It is Jesus Christ.
My apologies if I was rude before, but I am totally serious about this.
Please, don't go there.
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
Matthew 7: 13-14
Please, quoting scripture on FR is trite, lame and a waste of time.
Obviously you do not believe as your sig insinuates.
Trite? Lame? A waste of time?
Christ didn't think so.
It is a good thing He didn't need your advice.
How is your life?
Maybe you need Him.
Well, this thread has gone to Hell.
That is Bull and you and I know it. Don't try that with me. By your "logic" this "gay" broadcaster's "productivity" justifies his existence.
CNN is not a charity organisation,
Neither is NPR/ABC/CBS/MSNBC/NBC etc. - so? These organizations are propped up by either tax dollars and/or evil men and women. So? What is your point?
even though it may seem like one at certain times.
Well, at all times in my book, but OK.
As for being 'good' or 'bad', the government should get involved unless someone's rights are being violated, just like it is today. Again, you are not listening. I do not define what is "good" or "bad." Do you get this? I'll ask again - because you play games. Do you get this? I do NOT make law. God does. Oh yes, there is one - Him. THAT God. You can dance around this - but you are not that talented to avoid Him, and you know it.
Then, people can decide for themselves
Ratings? Fine - the LOST can choose Hell or anything. Let me ask you plainly:
Do YOU choose Hell?
Is Christ rejected in your Lexicon? Come on! Be plain about it! If any part of your answer does not answer this - what is the point of debating further?
Christ's person is one of my people I try to follow.
Try? I cannot be Him either. You are dancing and dancing around the question.
I'll leave you with the words of Paul:
Romans 1: 16-20
I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith." The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualitieshis eternal power and divine naturehave been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
