Oh what a sweet puppy. You went through all the right steps in determining that you got the best one - runt or not. I know you are excited about bringing him to his new family.
We have a Bichon who was the runt and never had a smarter sweeter dog.

How about Gershwin? Unique name for a pup.

AWWW what a cutie! I'd love to have a dog but we just don't have the yard for one right now (renting a townhome) Nothing like the puppy breath and chewing on the fingers. As for a name, I agree with the other posters that suggested Elwood.
Best wishes to you and yours!

My little "Potlatch" was the runt of the litter, always healthy and lived to almost 15 yrs. Enjoy your new puppy!!

Congratulations Bob, what an adorable puppy!
For no particular reason, I always liked the name Jake for a dog, prolly not a good name for a poodle, though!

Steady, brave eyes.
That's a good 'un. I like the white color the best too.
I took the runt of the litter. She's still undersized at 5 years - only 43 pounds. Took her to a hunt test in October, there were 200 dogs entered and any of the Labs present could have given her 15-20 pounds. One of the judges watched her bounding through the high grass like a Springer to keep her eye on the duck and said, "Aw, isn't she a cute little thing!" But it certainly hasn't stopped her from being a DARNED good dog . . . she passed both days, I looked at the results and of 28 dogs in Junior, only 20 passed on Saturday and 17 on Sunday, it was a TOUGH test.
Have you thought about training this one for hunt tests?

OK, re names - what are the names of the sire and dam?
Most folks take some sort of running start from one of those. E.g. my new puppy is by FC/AFC The Man In Black ("Cash") so her name is Rock 'n' Roll Ruby (an early Johnny Cash rockabilly number).

I'm not a Poodle fancier but they look awfully mature for 6 wks!
Very nice looking, though.

Oh, my!!!! WHAT a cute baby. Standard poodles are great dogs. You are very lucky.
I don't put much stock in that runt rule, unless you plan on showing him. My Penny was the runt, and she is a fabulous hundred pound Lab, now four years old.

Congratulations on your new addition to the family. Although I feel really stupid because my post at first was going to ask why it took so long for you to take it home. Second I answered my question and did not realize that dogs were fed by their mother... Well heck I never said I was the smartest guy in the world.

My poodle looked at the pictures of your little man and she said that the name should be
beau chien. Now, I defer to her poddle intuition, but don't name him Hunk.
A neighbor when I was a little girl had a standard white poodle named "Caniche". French for "poodle". Always liked that!
