I don't think 8 years old is too young to teach a child that homosexuality is an abnormality. Teaching them it is a "normal alternative lifestyle" is wrong at any age.

I think you are right. Theres a movie that Garden State Equality wants shown.
http://www.gardenstateequality.org/
I think the school doesn't need to teach my child about different family lifestyles or about being Gay. Some links for interested readers......
http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/local/states/new_jersey/16585431.htm
petition to sign against showing this film
http://www.gopetition.com/sign.php?petid=241 Steven Goldstein, the Chairman of the group Garden State Equality, says he's shocked that anyone would have a problem with this video, because it has won several awards and "it was shown at the White House in 2000- before educators and child advocates from across the country who praised the film." He adds if people don't feel comfortable with having their kids see That's a Family, "maybe New Jersey is not the right place for them."

Do you mean 28% of the people here?.... My child is 7 yrs old ...She does not need to see any movie this group promotes. I can very well explain diverse families to her . I don't need Garden State Equality Group Doing it for me nor her school. If that makes me out of my mind.. good. I don't take my child to the movies and she is still a child and watches movies meant for a child on DVD. I don't care what Gays do nor how they raise their own families. I don't bash them. However I will not have them telling me my child needs to be taught about homosexuality at her age or about their lifestyle and families.. I sure think Steven Goldstein has a lot of nerve telling people in NJ..... If people don't feel comfortable with having their kids see That's a Family, "maybe New Jersey is not the right place for them." What gives him the right to say that???

I don't understand either of your replies, when I voted 28% of the people in the poll said it was OK to teach homosexuality. I don't think anything about sex should be in public eductation, and homosexuality shouldn't even be up for debate to be taught about in high school, to talk about it to 7 year olds is sick.
Where did I say 28% of the people here??? How is saying homosexuality shouldn't be taught make me want Barack Obama UNLESS I read the pole wrong and the 72% were lunatics, someone tell me.

By teaching an eight-years-old or younger that homosexuality is abnormal, you'd be teaching the kid about homosexuality.
It's also NOT what the parents thinks about homosexuality, it's about what the child thinks and lies to the parents about what he thinks.

"By teaching an eight-years-old or younger that homosexuality is abnormal, you'd be teaching the kid about homosexuality." Okay, so teaching an 8 year old in a very limited manner, teaching that it is abnormal, is fine with me.
"It's also NOT what the parents thinks about homosexuality, it's about what the child thinks and lies to the parents about what he thinks."
Actually, it is ALL about how the parents decide to teach their child. An 8 year old shouldn't be thinking about it, and certainly should not have been exposed to it in school. That is a family/parental responsibility.

Thanks for your support people. This is becoming a very serious problem in our area. The latest is the school board has let garden state equality now about the 2/13/07 board meeting's change in venue...However, the school board did not yet alert the tax paying citizens of this!!! This is a very corrupt school district. Keep spreading the word, this is not an easy fight. This is where we need to rely TOTALLY on GOD!!!
Funny, we started getting some "hate" mail and one line read "Keep your beliefs and religion out of this..."
Well to you oppositionists, thanks for mentioning that, because that's EXACTLY what we are fighting for...To keep YOUR believes out of my FAMILY and out of the schools!!!!
To: dynachrome
How true.....I went and signed the petition to stop the movie from being shown....only 126 people signed it. If they wanted to show this later on in middle school fine. I talked to my daughter's teacher about it yesterday. She and I believe children who are young really don't notice who has 2 mommies or 2 daddy's unless it is pointed out to them. I am sick of Gay propaganda. I sat my child down and said there are different lifestyles and she knows that some families are different. I think the film clips I saw (what they chose to show you) weren't so bad. BUT I also think all they will do is make your child question why . At 7 yrs old children don't need to know about homosexuality. I don't care how much power Garden State Equality has ...I believe some issues need to be taught by the parents not the gay agenda people or the schools. I hope more people will sign the petition and as a PTA member if this what they are pushing I think I don't care to be a part of them anymore.
