The ABC network said it had ordered a pilot for a comedy, tentatively titled "Cavemen," that features the characters used in a series of television ads by an insurance company.
In the ads, cavemen appear insulted by a Geico insurance pitchman's claim that the company's Web site is so easy to use that "even a caveman can do it."
The potential series, one of 14 pilots that will be produced by Touchstone Television this spring, features the cavemen as they "struggle with prejudice on a daily basis as they strive to live the lives of normal thirty-somethings in 2007 Atlanta."
It is unusual for characters from an advertising campaign to move into shows of their own, but not unprecedented. The CBS comedy "Baby Bob" featured a talking baby that had been used in several advertisements, according to Daily Variety.

I LOVE the caveman commercials! But I'm not sure they would have the same punch in a series. The baby Bob series wasn't successful & I'm not sure this would be - although with skillful writing, it could be hilarious. I think I would rather see them in little snippets, like commercials, though.
That ought to be an interesting show. It would be the first time in years that I would watch ABC.
I'll have the roast duck with the mango salsa ...
Go to cavemancrib.com-hysterical. Very interactive.
LOL! That site is pretty funny.
I've got an idea! Have a couple astronauts go back in time to hang out with the Cavemen! What...you say it's been done?

"Astronauts goin' back in time to hang out with the cave people
It's about time, it's about space
It's about some people in the strangest place"

theme song to short lived TV series "It's About Time")
Great site! Thanks!
These guys are as GAY as they come.
That's why there are few good sitcoms anymore. They take a random idea and build a show around it instead of creating good, memorable characters in a setting that people want to watch.
Worst... idea... Ever..
I'll probably watch though.
Glad you enjoyed it. Make sure to check out he ledger under the pillow, his phone messages, the bathroom drawer etc...

Did you click on the rug in the bedroom? LOL!
If I know ABC, they will make the Cavemen into a bunch of prissy flaming emasculated intellectually enlightened homos who want to get married and any cavewomen will be masculine radical femi-nazis who want to adopt regular children. ABC will find a way to destroy a potentially funny show concept by pushing all the PC crap they can think of to offend the normal viewing public. I hope I’m wrong. I like the cavemen commercials.
This show is going to BOMB.
