My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and me...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Fairy-Land
by Edgar Allan Poe
Dim vales- and shadowy floods-
And cloudy-looking woods,
Whose forms we can't discover
For the tears that drip all over!
Huge moons there wax and wane-
Again- again- again-
Every moment of the night-
Forever changing places-
And they put out the star-light
With the breath from their pale faces.
About twelve by the moon-dial,
One more filmy than the rest
(A kind which, upon trial,
They have found to be the best)
Comes down- still down- and down,
With its centre on the crown
Of a mountain's eminence,
While its wide circumference
In easy drapery falls
Over hamlets, over halls,
Wherever they may be-
O'er the strange woods- o'er the sea-
Over spirits on the wing-
Over every drowsy thing-
And buries them up quite
In a labyrinth of light-
And then, how deep!- O, deep!
Is the passion of their sleep.
In the morning they arise,
And their moony covering
Is soaring in the skies,
With the tempests as they toss,
Like- almost anything-
Or a yellow Albatross.
They use that moon no more
For the same end as before-
Videlicet, a tent-
Which I think extravagant:
Its atomies, however,
Into a shower dissever,
Of which those butterflies
Of Earth, who seek the skies,
And so come down again,
(Never-contented things!)
Have brought a specimen
Upon their quivering wings.

Flowers, flowers, everywhere! Your threads get to 1000 posts so quickly these days you're going to have to start creating new threads only after 2000 posts!
Good evening to you, starbase.
Oh lovely flowers for the new tread. Yes, we do seem to be speeding along these days. We can bring the flower pictures over to this thread in jig time.
I was born in a small town, but did not spend much time here as a kid. I really grew up in the hinterlands very rural on a small farm (maybe small as the one you wish to own). We had a creek with an old swimming hole. Pastures to play in watching out for the cow patties. LOL
I think the ideal small town childhood lives in all of us, kinda printed in the manual. LOL

Let the rain kiss you Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops Let the rain sing you a lullaby The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk The rain makes running pools in the gutter The rain plays a little sleep song on our roof at night And I love the rain.

Good day to you Lady Jag!
Adorable graphic and poem. Yes, I awoke to rain and wind this morning. Rain has stopped, sun is out, wind is blowing hard, it remains cold.

It’s time for “Rain, rain, go away”!!!!!
Just got back from brunch and satisfying an omelet crave that’s gone on a week or two.
Wind and rain hits here soon.

Good day to you! Going okay on my end, how about yours?
The cold remains a bummer. Other than that can’t complain.

Cabin fever is starting to set in. Arghhhhhhhhhh. Other than that, things are healing slowly. Arghhhhhhhhh. Glad that the Lair is there for good reading and comments.

YIKES! I am getting sick of it.
Cabin Fever ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad the Lair is here for all of us. ;)

Is it a “Nor-easter” that is headed toward you? If so, hope that you have enough supplies to see you through.

I have time to get supplies in, I have not heard that’s it’s a Nor-Easter, not yet anyway. ;(
One of my daughter’s said today, she scraped about two inches of snow from her car early this morning. I don’t know when this stuff is going to end. Soon already, please.
To: Soaring Feather
Continuing snow can be a nuisance.

I just heard it’s going stop raining Saturday.
Then it will start raining again Sunday and Monday, and turn to snow Tuesday and Wednesday. We’ve already gotten more snow this April than all winter. This is total weirdness.

I have priced silk carpets in fine stores, they ain’t cheap. I love the feel of them, so soft and rich. It’s gorgeous! I like the other one, too.

Yup, I think so. This is just miserable and depressing.
To: Soaring Feather
Buying a Persian takes a lot of time (hours). To look at the carpet at first glance all may seem fine. However the following should be followed when purchasing a Persian Carpet:
- Place the carpet directly under an overhead light
- Rub the nap in several directions and observe the color change. Do this both ways
- Take one corner and flip the corner up and observe the quality of the tied knots
- Walk around the carpet continually to see if there is any different shades within the same color. If there are shade differences, that means that they ran out of the same color dye and they tried to replicate it. The carpet is not as valuable if there are differences
- Was the carpet hand made or machine made. A close inspection looking at the symmetrical design is a good clue. If there are differences, then the carpet is hand made. Machine made carpets do not display imperfections Kerman, Tabriz, Esfahan, Elizabeth and other carpets are beautiful and expensive. Pure silk carpets are very expensive.

There is a definite process to go through when considering a Persian Carpet. I would love to have one-it will not be in this lifetime. ;)

The Elizabeth carpets are natural colors (brown, tan and white) and are beautiful. They aren't rare and are relatively inexpensive when compared with the other types.

Wonder why that is. Takes more to make a rug, is more rare than wool??

Flying Carpets
The Flying Carpets go sailing by
as they float along in the great expanse of sky,
some made of silk and some made of wool
all beautiful and colorful,
with designs that go back to ancient times
to those that have distinctive lines,
a fun trip to be had is for sure
while you sit there and take the city tour,
to see sights you had not learned in school
to some that would be way cool,
a pull on the carpets left side would turn the carpet to the right
and amaze the passengers without fright,
a lift of the front will make it rise
as it lifts higher and higher in to the skies,
to reduce speed you push down on both sides
this slows the air current to the underside,
while speeding up the air current above
then all of a sudden you soar like a dove,
the set-up for landing the carpet droops the front down
as it starts a gentle glide slope toward the ground,
on final approach the carpet begins to hover
as passengers get off and run for cover,
because the landing site can be anyplace the pilot so desires
the street, a rooftop or alongside a buildings spires,
cheap transportation and good for the environment to keep it pure
it has no meter and no need for fossil fuel to be sure,
just a great imagination is a good as it can get
as I set off into the sunset on my Flying Carpet.
