It's so described in 1 John 4; 9 in the King James, Darby and American Standard Version bible translations, among other places:
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only bee-gotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.Indeed, Young's Literal Translation tells us that He was the only one nailed by the stinging insects: In this was manifested the love of God in us, because His Son -- the only beegotten -- hath God sent to the world, that we may live through him....
