Since when could Manny ever run or field for that matter?

For once I am in complete agreement with misterrob on this one. Where is the fun if I can’t trash the Sox fans?

and

Yankees Just gave up the lead in the 6th at Tropicana... Burney gets slammed by TB Velandia - Yankees blow a 5 run by giving up 6 runs. Tampa Bay 6 - 5.

Incredible. The four teams who be in the AL playoffs this year have now all locked up playoff spots, all of them having passed the 90 win mark.

Meanwhile, over in the NL not one team has locked up a playoff spot yet and no team has passed the 90 win mark. The AL appears to clearly have the better baseball teams. Of course all that goes out the window once they start playing the world series.

You run into a hot pitching staff and two guys swinging the bat well and it’s over.

The AL has 4 teams that look pretty good. Over the course of a season everything evens out so the slow starts, slumps, short term injuries, 10-8 wins/2-1 losses all even out. The NL has a lot more “parity” amongst the teams.

Colorado is making a good run though while the Mets fall apart.

Well, well, well...

Sox win 5-2 reducing the Magic # to 1

In Baltimore Mariano Rivera blows a 3 run lead in the bottom of the 9th!!! Tied going into the 10th inning.

The Yankees losing the division is actually rather significant. They are a .500 team on the road and while they owned Cleveland this year, the Tribe is playing great ball (37-19 since Aug 1st) and will lead off with Carmona and Sabathia who are as good a twosome as you will find in the game today. Their #3 guy, Byrd is 15-8. Yankees counter with Wong, Pettite and either an injured Clemens, a washed up Mussina or a rookie.

Of course if they had won the division then they would draw the Angels who give them a lot of problems.

Should be interesting.
