Unfortunately, the latest non-amnesty amnesty bill made it passed the cloture hurdle and on to debate. This is truly a sad day for America. Crime, apparently, can pay if you wait long enough.
We must be taking lessons from the French--we appear ready to surrender to the invading illegals without firing a shot.
In that light, how about a common sense suggestion--instead of legislation that provides legal status to millions who don't even respect our laws, how about a Constitutional Amendment along the following lines:
Section 1: The provisions of this Constitution apply only to those people who were born in the sovereign territory of the United States, those who have entered the said territory through lawful means, or who are the children of those who were either born in the sovereign territory of the United States or who have entered the said territory through lawful means.
Section 2: All people who are citizens of the United States upon the enactment of this Amendment are considered to be in the United States through lawful means.
Section 3: The Congress has the authority to enact appropriate legislation to enforce this Amendment.
Section 4: This Amendment will enter into force provided that three-forths of the several states shall concur in such within seven years of passage by the Congress.
Just a thought...

Good morning, the only reason the evil dems would even consider that is if they were getting something big that would promote their evil agenda’s.
Probably pass a bill to stop and prevent all border security or fences, give amnesty to aliens sneaking in illegally, allowing all the illegal aliens to be able to collect all “entitlements”without ever paying any taxes and hike taxes on LEGAL, made and born in the USA.

Welcome back and great links, Molly! I especially liked the Kagan one about winning, and Sowell’s “take” on the immigration debacle. I read on NRO’s Corner yesterday that we conservatives CAN make a difference by contacting our Congresscritters, by speaking out, and by resisting amnesty for lawbreakers.
I think the reason the immigration “deal” is so repugnant to conservatives is that it condones erosion of the laws of this country with the shallow excuse that it is “good for the economy”. Well, it can be argued that murdering old people or homeless people are “good for the economy”, too, but that doesn’t make them legal or right, and we don’t grant those criminals amnesty for their acts, which is what Sowell has been saying.
I just want a couple of our pubbie Congresscritters to have the courage to stand up and say: I was elected to uphold the laws of this great country, not to defeat them by destroying the fabric of the justice system. I oppose amnesty for criminals, whether they violate our immigration laws or any other laws in force. Every citizen in the US should want that we all play by the same rules and follow the same laws, and not exempt some people who disrespect our laws. (/wishful thinking)

I’ll be in and out during this morning. Looks like spring is getting on toward summer here in W.NY... but we’ll probably have another one or two frosty days before June, as we did this morning.
Folks, this country is in bad shape, being ‘sold out’ by the pubs, most anyhow. It has long been sold out by the dims but we expect that to happen, it is the pubs who are ‘plowing us under’, sad, sad, sad.....
SIL got the pool up and filled with water, it is a biggie too, having swimming party for the kids in crews from up north who are down here doing repairs on homes. Friday night we are going to have a shrimp boil for the crews and their kids.
I am afraid that folks in this nation still do not understand the radical Muslims want to do to us in America, or do not want to realize that they want to kill us or, don’t believe they will do such a thing. We are putting this dangerous situation in the hands of the dimwitts and thay think it will not happen here, so wrong.
I am not a radical at all but I do have my rifles and pistols in my ‘shack in the back’ to defend THIS family to the death. The threat is real, very real. Read John Haggee’s book ‘Jerusalem Countdown’, it will shake you to the bone.
Cut my yard with the tractor yesterday and then cut my neighbors and have two more ‘request’ to do same. I do not mind at all, in fact I enjoy it. I do this because they work and I don’t, and because I just want to.
I am asking ALL to pray for President Bush, this man is being attacked with no let up in sight. The hatred up there is sickening, a good man being assinated by words and works of hate.
It is off to do some cleaning and declare war on the flies, they seem to be coming from 7 states to attack us, it is terrible, never seen it like this. Havn’t seen the numbers of brown widow spiders as we are having either, before you turn or pick up anything outside you look first. Yep, out b lack widow spiders are plentiful too.
All pleas try to have a good and safe day and remember, someone always has it worse than us.
