Moonshine and I waited quietly outside the clinic; we were early; for the vet to finish playing hockey and for the Youngest to show up. The Youngest has been assisting the vet and getting some OJT to see if this is work she really wants to do.

So, this was cool for her. Not only was it a bit of a tricky spay, but she got to skip one of her most detested classes, too. It was good.

The tricky part is that being in oestrus caused Moonshine to be a bit of a bleeder. But the Youngest swabbed and dabbed and helped give the anesthetic and prepare the needles and do all of that fun slimey stuff. She held retractors and the uterus and felt the muscle and all sorts of insides of that dog.

Now, Moonshine is at home and feeling very sorry for herself. We have her on antibiotics and are still keeping her separate from the other dogs. She really is not in charity with Whiskey her brother. I think she must focus on him as being the source of her misery. HA! Little does she know.

Her recovery is slow, but it is definite. And the job is done so it er, won’t be done in the future. If you know what I mean. And the Youngest has something to put on her resume.
