Dr. Laura son linked to lurid Web page

The soldier son of talk radio relationship counselor Laura Schlessinger is under investigation for a graphic personal Web page that one Army official has called "repulsive." The MySpace page, publicly available until Friday when it disappeared from the Internet, included cartoon depictions of rape, murder, torture and child molestation; photographs of soldiers with guns in their mouths; a photograph of a bound and blindfolded detainee captioned "My Sweet Little Habib"; accounts of illicit drug use; and a blog entry headlined by a series of obscenities and racial epithets. The site is credited to and includes many photographs of Deryk Schlessinger, the 21-year-old son of the talk radio personality known simply as Dr. Laura. Broadcast locally on 570 KNRS, "Family Values Talk Radio," the former family counselor spends three hours daily taking calls and offering advice on morals, ethics and values. She broadcast a show from Fort Douglas, in Salt Lake City, last week.

The ‘ex boyfriend’ was married, and she (dr fraud) lived with him for eleven years while he remained married to somebody else.

I’m not surprised the hypocrite raised a kid with serious mental issues.

Indeed. If my son pulled something like this, I’d be devastated. If someone else posted something on this order in his name, I’d be thoroughly outraged. Either way, liberal media will use it to their advantage, with no thought of the consequences to our troops.

I agree. Dr. Laura is quite mean and psychologically destructive at times. I’m not sure why anyone calls her.

She does force people to look straight at their problems and tries to emphasize maintaining the family above all else, which is good. She’s got quite a strong female following.

The tough love thing really wears though, especially when her lack of compassion and deep seated anger comes through.

Dr Laura is one of the loudest national voices espousing family values AND personal responsibility. She is not perfect nor does she claim to be. She speaks plainly, bluntly and gives no quater for those callers that always want to blame someone else for life’s problems.

In my book that is one solid woman.

I’ve read and listened to enough of her spew (more fool me) and enough about her to form the opinion that she is mean as a snake (mainly to women) and revels in it. She calls it being tough and no-nonsense - I call it being a thoroughly nasty “rhymes with rich.” I too can’t believe anyone calls this harpy for any kind of advice or counsel.

Before everyone goes nuts on him, know that MySpace profiles get hijacked all the time. I have a MySpace page so I’ve seen this. About once a month a friend will have to send a message out letting everyone know that they got hacked and did not send out that bulletin with porno links on it. All kinds of identity theft happen on this site. I’ve had friends get their profiles copied as fake ones. They take their pictures and claim to be them. I’ll get invites from people who sometimes respond back saying they never sent the invite and that they got hacked. This stuff happens.

Now, I don’t know Dr. Laura’s son so maybe he did do this, but from what I know about the MySpace website, this doesn’t add up. Most people know better than to post these kinds of pictures. The site is pretty well moderated. You get reported for posting inappropriate photos and they get taken down quick.

Anyway, without knowing more, I’d say he was hijacked.

This story, word for word, has been floating around for at least a week. This link is dated May 23, 2007 so why is this “journalist” trying to pass this off as breaking news.

Also, if this page was removed, “publicly available until Friday, when it disappeared from the Internet”, which Friday does this lying writer mean?

This is a concentrated effort, IMHO. Has Dr. Laura been inflaming the homosex crowd again?

Why would you call in to be berated? Granted, the few times I’ve got into my car after listening to Rush and hearing a few moments of her show, the callers seem to deserve it but is it masochism or what?

Your crusade against the story is all well and good but somewhat beside the point. Do you have any evidence that either Dr. Laura or her son have taken the opportunity to issue a firm and angry categorical denial?
