In a battle to save his property from a destructive rodent, a 54-year-old man ended up shooting himself in the groin over the holiday weekend, according to Flint Township police.
The man, who had been having problems with a woodchuck tearing up his backyard, decided to take matters into his own hands at 6 p.m. May 26, said Flint Township Lt. James Iacovacci.
Iacovacci, who declined to identify the man or his address, said the shooter was trying to pull a .22-caliber gun from the pocket of a jacket he was wearing when the weapon accidentally fired.
The bullet entered and exited the man's groin, Iacovacci said. The victim, who was alone at the time, managed to drive himself to a local hospital, where he was treated for his injury then released.
Iacovacci said there was no word on the whereabouts of the woodchuck.

Some folk should never be allowed within 20 feet of a live firearm, and I do not care what your Second Amendment rights say about that.
Some folk are just too plain pig ignorant and irresponsible to own and bear arms. They are a danger to themselves and others, and an embarrassment to everybody else.
I hope the authorities swooped down and confiscated all of his firearms and ammunition on health and safety grounds as soon as he was admitted to hospital. For the public good. Crikey!

Oxymoron
Not an oxymoron. A Darwin Award winner must have removed his/her self from the gene pool through stupidity. This usually, but not always, entails death. Someone who survives his stupidity but is unable to reproduce as a result of said stupidity is still eligible.
