Travolta's drug rant at killings
The Sun (UK) ^ | June 21, 2007 | NA

Posted on 06/23/2007 5:01:28 PM PDT by neverdem

JOHN Travolta blames school shootings sprees on mind-altering prescription drugs rather than poor gun control.

The Pulp Fiction star claimed: “If you analyse most of the school shootings, it’s not gun control.

“It is psychotropic drugs at the bottom of it.”

Yet the most recent US school atrocity involved Virginia Tech gunman Cho Seung-Hui, who was NOT on medication when he gunned down 32 people two months ago.

Travolta, 53, added: “I don’t want to create controversy. I’ve an opinion.”

Travolta follows the Scientology religion like actor Tom Cruise, who faced a backlash in 2005 when he criticised anti-depressant drugs.

Hence the word "most" in Travolta's statement.

Yeah, Scientologists have always been critical of drugs like Ritalin - and sugar, too.

I don’t think he’s right here, but lenient gun laws aren’t to blame, either. The shooter(s) are to blame.

Didn’t that American creep/punk, who is the ‘spokesmouth’ for the murderous, islamic talibunnies, just recently say, that the gunman Cho Seung-Hui, was islamic, or something like that? And that he was acting in the name of islam, or something like that, with other murders in America? Drat; I just can’t remember it...

I’m having a ‘senior brain fart’ right now, and can’t remember his name/statement, exactly.

Can anyone help me out, here?

“I don’t want to create controversy. I’ve an opinion.”

I might have to give him a pass here,
but this is the strongly stated position of the Church of Scientology
And he is a disciple. This suggests it is not his opinion,
but one extending directly from his Church.

A shame that site is so out dated. Better living through better chemistry is an absolute recipe for disaster.

As for the premise of the article, how ‘gun control’ would have limited the deaths, I’ve not been able to figure out. Had students been able to use their concealed carry permits on campus, one wonders if that would have been a deterrent, or if one of the students could have taken him out.

Perhaps what we really need is a website to keep track of the number of casualties from 'gun control'.

He’s right. Government schools having been commandeered by the leftists and offshoot groups (feminists, gays) have been warping the minds of young boys for decades. And when they haven’t been able o fully extinguish the last vestige of masculinity, they finish the job by force feeding them mind altering drugs. If there is any sanity left in his nation, Government schools will be abolished...Delenda est!

Wow, that’s a link that will depress you just reading it. I was given Zoloft, and almost quit smoking entirely. I lost my insurance and could not afford the 107.00 per month to purchase out of pocket, so I weaned myself off. No nasty side affects.

Got insurance through the county. Was prescribed Paxil. Ended up flushing that crap down the toilet, because I had bad thoughts over my health problems. Yes, those kinds of bad thoughts. Luckily I’m 47, not 12. They put my son on Celexa when he was in his early teens. He carved his arms up with a razor blade. I threw it out.

I think all you can do is monitor your medication, or that of your loved ones to make sure that it isn’t doing more harm than good.

Check the link in comment# 1. At first, I thought it was baloney too. Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors, SSRIs, the drugs that a great many of the shooters in the school shootings were taking, are associated with serotonin syndrome, in which patients can become manic and violent among other symptoms, and serotonin withdrawal/discontinuation syndrome. The FDA said the drugs had to have black box warnings on them last year because later examination found an increase in suicidal ideation when the drugs have been started or the dose increased. The patients need closer monitoring in either of those situations for about 6 weeks.

Well, he’s not entirely wrong here.

They are passing Ritalin out like friggin candy to schoolkids. A bunch of us would’ve been targeted for drugs because we were quiet, or independent, etc. etc. - if Ritalin would have been around then.

Of course the shooters are personally responsible. But I also believe that being on those drugs may affect their perception and emotions and make things seem so much worse than they think they are.

Case in point: my 50 year old uncle is been getting a weekly shot for about 1/2 a year now to deal with hepatitis c from a tattoo shop he went to. A known side effect of this medicine is big time depression. They have to be watched really closely by other family members because this drug makes people so depressed they can go suicidal.

So it is not surprising that some of these many, many drugs they pump into kids distorts how they feel about things and make things seem hopeless even though they really are not.

Johnny has it right

He is spot on.

The last 2 shooters may not have been on drugs - but the vast majority have - drugs like Prozac - that have long been known to be dangerous, particularly for young people. - and has known side effects like suicide. rage, delusions and violence.

I've been following it for years. John T. is hardly the first one to make the connection.

There has been a plethora of information and warnings from physicians etc - but the drug companies have deep pockets and dominate the field of lobbyists in DC -

Just think of all the prescription drugs in the past few years that have finally been recalled after killing thousands of people. Why were they ever allowed in the first place - MONEY and INFLUENCE. If you think the FDA is looking out for you - you are naive to the max Do some research. I am amazed at how many folk just jump the gun rather than first take advantage of the greatest access to information mankind has ever known - the Internet. GOOGLE is your friend.

Scientology, in my estimation, is evil - than doens't mean that any thing said by a Scientologist is therefore automatically not to be believed.

That was a really bizarre movie. I don`t know how old you are, but to this day I can remember that flick clear as day watching it on TV with my parents where Travolta gets jealous because his friends were smoking pot and he couldn`t. They literally showed smoking pot as being cool, and this was a family movie! My father was New York city cop at the time and his only comment was “Can you believe this crap?” LOL!

I couldnt bare to watch grease when it came out, it was a waste of film. The reason we have shootings as we do isnt because of a lack of “so called” gun control in which over a million people every year stop crimes because they posses a gun which the liberal media so conveinantly leaves out, Nor is it because of anti depressant drugs. ITS because of people like John Travolta and his hollywood buddies and the rest of the immorality gang. Our morals have greatly declined and continues to do so year after year! and what are the overwhelming parraelled results the same mimicking imorality. Society preaches abortion what do we have people putting the newly born children in garbage cans at school dances, hollywood preaches sexual activity outside of marriage, what are the results? women who get played by some guy who calls her his one and only ( in which I can prove to any women who giives into a guy who brings the sexual outside of marriage that he is a liar and a cheater, gauranteed!)but anyways—— Results!-— women in poverty, women who get abused, of course cheating in which cheating is not just the physicaletc... women who wind up single moms, STDs, STIs, abortions, greater likely drug addictions, depression, 28 studies that overwhelmingly show a link to abortion and breast cancer, which the media also leaves out, etc...etc... If hollywood realy wants to get to the root of problems they could start by looking in the mirror. Hollywood is a joke profession anyways inwhich countless people fall for and think is a reality in life. TIME TO WAKEUP FOLKS!!!

Scientologists have some things right, but mostly for entirely the wrong reasons.

Scientology is against phsychotropic drugs because their own brand of brain washing is not effective to those on it. Scientologists prefer to use mental problems as an excuse to recruit and program new members.

Scientologists hate psychiatrists for the same reason, their insanity does not bear inspection. L. Ron Hubbard was a bona fide lunatic - any shrink could see it in 5 minutes. So I’m sure the anti-psychiatric hysteria was mostly self-serving for Hubbard at first.

::::
Yes, he is. While many here do not understand the message and the scientific facts behind what Travola said, it is indeed shocking to find out how many of these murdering nutjobs have been on mind-altering drugs like Prozac and Ritalin (sp?). For example, it was discovered that the Columbine killers were on Ritalin. I am in my sixties now, and I look back and ask “how did we get through life without all those drugs?” It is an easy cop-out to replace politically-incorrect DISCIPLINE that the liberals hate, with drugs. And that is exactly what is happening.

I remember my youth years, and we did NOT have these kinds of problems. Everyone owned guns and it was a non-issue, then as it is now. It is the PEOPLE that are different now, not guns or gun ownership. But the libs will try and convince the ignorant masses that is the case. Almost daily.

I would very much appreciate your source(s) on this claim.

It's a pdf link from the NY State Dept. of Health about the high rate of breast cancer on Long Island.

CORAM, MT. SINAI, PORT JEFFERSON STATION (CMP) FOLLOW-UP INVESTIGATION

BREAST CANCER RISK FACTORS with references starts on page 25.

“The importance of reproductive factors in affecting breast cancer risk has been known for a long time. Women who have never given birth (or had a full-term pregnancy) are at a higher risk for breast cancer compared to women who have carried a pregnancy to term.”(Page 26)

If you want to search, I'd enter (termination of pregnancy or TOP or abortion) and breast cancer into PubMed. Look for Related Links in the upper right of the individual abtracts. Here's one of them that's a 90 % increase.

Induced abortion and risk for breast cancer: reporting (recall) bias in a Dutch case-control study.

The theory behind it is that the breast tissue was not allowed to completely develop from the whole sequence of hormonal changes when interrupted by an abortion. These semi-developed breasts are now prone to cancer. Many of the studies report no statistically significant correlation because the women in question are still relatively young, i.e. they're lame studies done for political correctness, or other methodological problems.

There are hundreds of them, you mean you cant find them?look up www.etters.net/cancer TP.htm#10

Also for just a few tid bits, lifenews.com Studies show Abortion breast cancer link Exists, despite Oxford survey, or should we say “rigged survey”

Cancer awareness Canada

Black Women (who the racist abortion industry like planned parenthood targets) age 50 who had at least one induced abortion showed an 370% increase in breast cancer.

The Journal of National health Medical association

Women under 18 150% increase

Women aged 30, who aborted first pregnancy, increase of 110%.

Look up CWAs listings a very good source and very credible CWA is about the largest Womens organisation out there.

Also National Cancer institute of Canada

Also In France Researcher Nadine Andrieu, Rohan dataon abortion showed 160% increase,

Also in Japan studies since 1957 all show around 100% increase.

American Journal on Epidemology.

Why the silence About Abortion and breast cancer? Chicago Tribune-—May 21 2001

Oral testamony given before Repoductive health Drugs Advisory committee of the FDA July 19 1996, Women who were coming in for breast cancer were admitting having had abortions. Other studies showing 90% increases.

etc...etc...etc..etc... The evidence is overwhelming. Now if the liberal lying media would just be honest for once, but thats another story.

For a pro-lifer, anti-abortion mother of five, with no history of miscarriages or elective abortions - it is disheartening to learn that a diagnosis of breast cancer (and that of other women) has one more perceived identity malignancy to overcome.

I’ll stick with genetic disposition, hormonal prescriptions and post-partum lactation medication.

I hear what you are saying here, but I dont think that drugs are what is pushing people to the extremes, but poor beliefs are realy where the answer is found there are direct correlations between peoples types of beliefs and the culture and its disfunctional lifestyles. There are perhaps many different things that can cause breast cancer, but the facts on these studies concerning abortion are real. Perhaps birth control pills, this causes unknown abortions. by claiming the the human embryo is not life when it overwhelmingly is life,(no one would smash bird eggs in its mothers nest and then claim they have done no wrong, but why not they are just embryos? This is what some try and blindly claim) birth control pills also been linked to breast cancer. Some women take these pills and then claim they are pro life. There are many factors that can be calculated. ~ Peace In Christ alone!!!!!
