Sochi to host 2014 Winter Olympics

The Russian resort city Sochi will host 2014 Winter Olympic Games, as the head of the International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge has reported. In the final round Sochi beat Pyeongchang of South Korea by 4 votes with 51 votes going to Russia and 47 to South Korea.

Sochi has a surprisingly warm climate for the latitude; winter temperatures rarely fall much below freezing. The average summer high temperature ranges between +26 °C (78.8 °F) and +32 °C (89.6 °F) with occasional extreme heat in some interior locations exceeding +40 °C (104 °F)

Somehow palm trees don't exactly evoke the winter olympics for me
