(CBS) NEWARK -- Police in Newark are looking for a suspect accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her own home. The brutal crime was committed on Newark's Main St. in the Ironbound section.
It started with a home invasion around 6 a.m. Saturday. The victim was a young mother - who police say was approached by a male suspect as she parked her car, and walked into her home.
A source familiar with the case tells CBS 2 the suspect forced the woman into her home, then sexually assaulted her, and took $850, all while her two young children were asleep inside.
Neighbors are on high alert - and not sure if this is an isolated incident, or part of a larger trend in their neighborhood.
“It's a big concern being here in Newark,” said Marisa Pessoa. “The crime keeps on going up.”
The Ironbound section is traditionally perceived as one of the safer, popular, and more crowded parts of Newark, leaving neighbors anxious for an arrest in the case.
Those darn happy, honest, working migrants.

No indication yet that it was a "migrant". By her name I'd say she's more likely to be Puerto Rican than from South of The Border. Newark is heavily African American, but there's no indication that the assailant was of that ethnicity either.
We'll just have to wait and see.
But I agree it is a good thing she wasn't armed, someone might have gotten hurt and in the worst case the taxpayers would have been deprived of all the entertainment of a trial, appeals, etc.
As in Newark NJ?
If so, they have to be kidding.
It’s a good thing she lives in NJ so that there were no guns lying around in her home. Somebody could have been hurt you know.
