Vegan teacher to skip school
Chicago Tribune ^ | 9/11/07 | Jeff Long

An art teacher removed from the classroom for encouraging pupils not to eat meat vowed Monday not to return to Fox River Grove Middle School until it eliminates milk and all other animal products from the lunch menu.

Dave Warwak, 44, also said he plans to ask the McHenry County state's attorney to file child-endangerment charges against the school district because the school continues to promote milk and other animal products as part of a healthy diet.

Warwak said he was not fired or suspended during a meeting Monday with school officials and representatives of Fox River Grove District 3. But he said he is not returning to class.

Of particular concern to him, he said, are posters in the school cafeteria that promote milk. While vegetarians stay away from meat, vegans such as Warwak shun all animal products.

"I can't really see working there as long as those milk posters are up and they keep feeding poison to the kids," said Warwak of Williams Bay, Wis., who said he began his vegan lifestyle in January.

District 3 Supt. Jacqueline Krause did not return a telephone call Monday seeking comment about her meeting with Warwak. Principal Tim Mahaffy has repeatedly declined to comment.

McHenry County State's Atty. Lou Bianchi was cautious when asked about criminal charges against the school district. Warwak has not yet spoken with Bianchi's office.

"We will listen to just about anybody," Bianchi said. "It sounds pretty unusual. I'd look at the endangerment statute again. But you have to prove intent. They're just trying to feed kids."

In a nutshell, this is why our school systems will continue to deteriorate, indefinitely.

Why wasn’t this clown fired for political speechmaking in the classroom? And yes, veganism is all about politics. It’s a main plank in the ‘green’ movement.

So, this guy, in essence, retired early. There should be no earthly way those menu items will be removed from the daily fare. The guy’s an idiot. Enjoy hunting for another job.

fire him, and they'll have to fight with the union. if he decides not to show up for work.. well, that's a volutary resignation from a job. unions won't fight it, and he won't be eligible for unemployment, and won't be able to sue for wrongful termination.

I have yet to see a vegan that had any inkling of a physical ability to lift over 50 pounds or run more than 100 yards. They all look like scarecrows.

I know some vegans.

Among other things, they are the unhealthiest looking people you ever want to see.

That's good news, in my estimation.

Classic leftist crackpot. He's deranged and he wants the world to adjust accordingly. The school should start handing out t-shirts to the kids which say things like, "For every glass of milk you avoid I'll drink a gallon." or "For every animal you don't eat I'm going to eat three."

But he said he is not returning to class.

After 3 days he's legally 'abandoned' his employment. Send him a nice letter and a check for whatever he's owed as far as vacations and sick days goes.

Then replace him.

Would anyone like to take a bet this guy also belongs to PETA and supports the ACLU and has a hardening of a certain appendage for Cindy Shehan and slobbery fat Code Pink pigs?

I would not want this pervert within 20 miles of my house or at least 1000 feet of a school entrance.

This scumbag needs a serious psychological evaluation before he or it hurts one of their students.

Just for fun sometimes I listen to some wacky vegan show on the radio Saturday mornings. These people are genuinely insane. I am sure there are level headed Vegans in the world who don’t run around screaming meat is murder, calling omnivores ‘murdertarians’, trying to force a vegan diet on everyone from your kids to your pets but they are few and far between..

If GOD hadn't intended humans to have milk and milk products HE wouldn't have given cows 2 extra teats.

LOL!

The political vegan movement is a sad extreme of a valid argument. Americans eat way too much crap! I myself am guilty of this but the answer is not to ignore our natural diet its to clean up what we eat.

A bit less meat than we are accustomed to, smaller portions of sweets, and more greens.

But your quote is the best I have ever seen!

Well I guess he won’t be crowding me out in the Land of Milk & Honey then.

I’ve seen vegans that look just like wax beans - always looked sickly and had to take all manner of pills to supplement what they weren’t getting through eating their “food.”

I used to work with a vegan.

When the group would tromp off to McDonalds for lunch, she’d make a show of coming along and being unable to find anything ‘healthy’ on the menu. She’d go to great lengths to point out the eggs in the salad, or the bacon or chicken. Always some poor animal.

Then she’d sigh deeply at the decline of humanity that she alone was able to see, and stoop to order a big box of fries, harumphing the whole way about how unhealthy the rest of us were.

I let this go two or three times, and then on one trip I picked up one of their nutrition flyers at the counter.

I made too big of a show of pointing out to her that McDs cooks their fries in beef tallow- along with all the chicken nuggets.

Besides getting her p!ssed off at me, showing her up for being a hypocritical uninformed jackass was completely worth it. The look on her face was priceless.
