That would be Brister, and he would have had a better QB rating that season had he just thrown the ball out of bounds on every pass play. That isnt sarcrasm, its actually true...JFK
Best thing that ever happened to Frye. He went to being the backup QB on a contender with an older QB to teach him and bring him along slowly.
Go Browns!
Well not for the next 5 games atleast.
Bengals by 30.
Signed,
A long suffering Browns fan.
In case you didn’t realize this, Leftwich is a total and complete selfish a-hole. He’ll likely never play again because of his attitude. Notice how Frye lands a backup job and Leftwich lingers in the unemployment line.
“Well not for the next 5 games atleast.”
Savage said about the same in his news conference.
Glad to know he agrees with me.
That would be mean to journeyman quaterbacks.
Frye “landed” a backup job? You make it sound as if he had a choice in the matter. Charlie Frye went from a #1 QB to a #2 QB in a trade. Byron Leftwich was cut as a result of a power struggle between Jack Del Rio and Shack Harris, and hasn’t landed on a team yet due to the way the NFL handles the salaries of vested veterans. (Leftwich is now a vested veteran, having played in the NFL for four years.)
Leftwich will land somewhere. The biggest obstacle right now is the reluctance of teams to deal with Tom “used” Condon, who does his best to get as much money as possible for his QB clients.
I’m a Dolphins fan. Journeymen quarterbacks have been mean to me.
He had the same choice Leftwich had, accept the demotion with dignity, or demand to be traded/cut so he could be a starter somewhere else.
Leftwich choose the second option and now he isn't getting a pay check.
and hasnt landed on a team yet due to the way the NFL handles the salaries of vested veterans.
Total baloney. Not wanting to deal with agent Condon, sure, but this has nothing to do with the NFL contract with the players union. Not wanting to accept a deal which pays near veteran minimum or the NFL team not wanting to deal with Leftwich's disruption to their organization are the reasons why no one wants him.
Dante is a turn-over machine, hasn't played average in 3 years and is his OWN agent, yet he lands on a team with a million dollar contract.
Why isn't Miami (or KC or NYG or whomever) talking with this guy if he still has gas in the tank? For the very same reason that Baltimore decided to offer Boller (a marginal QB at best) a multi-year contract AFTER talking with Leftwich. Leftwich may believe he deserves starter money to ride the pine, but the NFL is a business.
Agreed!
Charlie had 5 mississippi’s on numerous occasions.
He got SACKED. I was really hoping he would pan out
this season. He’s a great guy.

I don’t think Anderson is good either. Many may consider this soon, but I could see Quinn going in by week 3.
and to a practice squad no less!!
Petrino is holding out for a college QB out of Louisville, once coached by Petrino, all they gotta do is be really bad this season and draft him.
he went from a starting QB in game 1 to the practice squad, by week 2, first time ever
