Call Screener Snerdley Suspended (Rush Limbaugh)(What is this all about?)
Rush Limbaugh ^ | 10-15-07

Posted on 10/15/2007 5:42:11 PM PDT by rawhide

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, a programming note: Mr. Snerdley has been suspended for the day. He is, as you know, our call screener. Snerdley was sent home for the day earlier this morning. He will be back tomorrow if everything goes according to plan. There were two problems. He presented a call to me on the program last Friday involving human waste movements, clearly beneath the quality and decorum of this program. Snerdley thought it would be funny because it was about a South Park incident in which the measurements were said to be in Courics. But the caller never got there because I, maintaining the class and decorum known for this program, interceded.

Secondly, you might remember the call from Lynn last Friday. How would you describe it, H.R.? What was she doing? She made a play for me; she was coming on to me, make no bones about it. I learned, ladies and gentlemen, over the weekend, that Snerdley gave her a call. This is just intolerable. It's funny, but I have to put my foot down on this. This is the second time we've had to suspend him in the course of this program, which is not too many times. The first time was when I saw him shouting, and arguing, and yelling with a caller in there. You have to nip these things in the bud when you see them happening. You gotta lay down the law. You can't let the line get crossed, because then the line gets blurred, and then the line gets invisible.

What is this all about? I can read the transcript, but does anyone know the rest of the story?

Snerdly suspended? Bet he dropped a 15 Couric load when he found out.

That's HILARIOUS!

Rush mentioned Snerdley's suspension in another segment today:

It just makes me mad, because I'm not going to be able to shepherd the project myself. I can't send Snerdley up to do it, 'cause he's gotta screen calls when he gets back from his suspension.

You know, I’m ashamed to say that I’ve seen that episode twice, and until Rush mentioned it today, I never made the Couric connection. My mind was stuck on Kerik.

Thats impossible. I think the human limit is a 12 Couric duece.

I watched that episode last night. I loved Bono walking through all the Africans. I bet its very accurate!

For those of you unsure about the Couric measurement system, a 15 Couric load is about the size of a brick.

Snerdly is Rush’s strait man (from the old Laurel and Hardy gags)... he can use Snerdly as the butt of jokes or if he wants to make a point from another perspective. I doubt he was really suspended.

I didn’t see the episode, but evidently South Park had an episode about the length of a turd. It was measured in courics. Nothing to suspect Mr. Snerdley about though IMO.

Really? I bet it was 15 milliCouric. Medically speaking, a 0.020 Couric load is generally fatal.

I know exactly what this is about. The caller wanted to discuss the South Park episode from the other day in which Randy Marsh’s character was in a contest with Bono to see who could take the biggest crap in history.

It’s not really Snerdley’s fault, the caller took so long to get to her point that it drove Rush nuts. Plus the caller first had to plug some healthcare charity she was with.

Rather is the old traditional measurement. One Rather is about 10 Cronkites or 2 megaCouric.

Bono isn't the record holder, he's the record.

Bono measures over 80 Courics according to the EFSM Office in Zurich.

I think the couric is metric, and rather is an english unit, and you are correct: 1 couric ~2.5 rathers.

When courics become too impractical a measurement, you switch to olbermans.

You don’t ever want to crap an olberman.

Olbermans aren’t too bad. Those make more noise than they should, but in the end there’s nothing there.

Back in 2003 I posted an email from a trusted source about a caller experience with Rush Limbaugh's call screener.

In addition to the usual assortment of comments from the Flying Freeper Rapid Response Shout Down Squad I was very embarrassed to have the thread summarily pulled on the basis of "a fake unsubstantiated email"

Had the thread been allowed to remain it would have given Rush or his staff an opportunity to discover what happens when (well meaning) people interact with his show.

Like water dripping on a rock, over time this stuff WILL affect his reputation and his overall show ratings.

There are all sorts of technological solutions to handle incoming calls to a talk show and Rush, bless his heart, seems to like to stick with the horse-and-buggy approach.

Not that there is anything wrong with that as long as it is done with precision and excellence.

Best regards,
