Country singer Gretchen Wilson behaved so badly on a recent flight to Los Angeles, American Airlines was forced to issue an in-flight citation and write up what the airline calls a "disturbance report." Redneck woman!
TMZ has learned that Wilson, who was traveling -- in coach!-- from Nashville to L.A. on Wednesday evening, became "belligerent, and verbally abusive" to staff when they asked her to put her dog back in its carrier case. Sources on the flight tell TMZ that a flight attendant attempted to discuss the situation in the back, but Gretchen responded with a pissed off "F**k you!"
Sources also tell us her group was drinking on board, and those privileges were also taken away. All jacked up indeed.
Guess the flight attendants were not here for the party.
A rep for Wilson was not immediately available for comment.
Red Neck woman indeed.
Never heard of her.
She should be able to get a top 10 song out this.
Hell, think I’ll give it a shot............
Trailer park trash!
Surely seems that way. Traveling in coach? I thought they had a tour bus.
May have been a business trip. No need to travel on a bus cross country for that. But traveling “coach” is surprising. I don’t fly. Would she have been allowed to have the dog in first class? Still doesn’t excuse the behavior.
"Gretchen Wilson was born on June 26, 1973, and raised in rural Pocahontas, Ill., 36 miles due east of St. Louis, where numerous trailer parks are clustered among cornfields and pig farms. Her mother was 16 years old when she had Gretchen, and her father, unfortunately, had moved on with his life by the time she was 2. Whenever they couldn't make rent, which was every few months, they packed up what little belongings they owned and moved down the road only to find yet another trailer.
With only an eighth-grade education, she was cooking and tending bar at Big O's, a rough-and-tumble bar five miles outside of town, alongside her mom at age 14. A year later and living on her own, she was managing the roughneck joint with a loaded 12-gauge double-barrel shotgun stashed behind the bar for protection.
The father she never really knew provided her with the musical talent to sing. "My dad just picked around on the guitar and has a quiet voice," Gretchen says. She made it a point to meet him for the first time when she was 12. "His family, I'm told, had a little traveling band. I think it was a gospel band." In any case, from an early age she could sing. Long before karaoke machines, she got up on stage every night at Big O's with a microphone and sang along to various CDs for tips. She soon found herself fronting a cover band and for the first time she felt like maybe there was a life for her outside Bond County. She moved to Nashville in 1996."

Personally, I thing she's done pretty damn well and if she rednecks it up once in a while, so be it.
I expect there will be an apology but it’s probably much ado about nothing. Tempers flare, people say stuff. Used that expression once or twice myself.
Nothing wrong with being a redneck, I consider myself one. But the woman is a living example of the fact that you can take a person out of the trash but you cannot take the trash out of some people. I watched her perform once on TV that was enough. She's not very good.
I wouldn't call her redneck as rednecks have some pride. I would just call her low class trash. Go listen to the lyrics of "Here for the Party" and I think you'll agree. She sounds cheap.
Maybe she can hang out with Joel Osteen’s wife. LOL!
Well, I guess we all can't be Paris Hilton.
And you wonder why a lot of the famous entertainment celebrities are now buying private jets or buying fractional shares of private jets. John Travolta got it right when he bought not only a Gulfstream IV, but a Boeing 707-138B (ex-Qantas) airliner—no need to deal with security and unfriendly flight crew because he can afford to hire his own.
She's giving all of us raised near Pocahontas Illinois a bad name.
At least I was raised just across the county line, three miles to the west, and can claim I didn't have to go the Greenville HS.
I’m sure she’d love to fly private, - she’s just not in the same league with Travolta financially.
What's she famous for?
What's she famous for?
She caused a scene and got kicked off a plane--or almost was.
It’s been a while & I’m in a pre-coffee state but I believe they landed the plane & it was requested that they make other traveling arrangements.
I did not know that. You’d think she would fly private...Perhaps she did not want to contribute to global warming.
(I’m anti-American Airlines so I have to snicker at this report.)
I was surprised they didn’t. I believe it was all over a spill in her seat & the flight attendant wasn’t moving fast enough for her. So she had what my grandmother used to call a “hissy”. LOL.
Country singer who did “Redneck Woman” and also a duet with
Merle Haggard:
And I’m for the Bible and I’m for the flag
And I’m for the working man, me and ol’ Hag
I’m just one of many
Who can’t get no respect
Politically uncorrect

Someone once gave me a tape of an “HD” radio station
devoted to rebel country artists like her,
Gretchen 99 FM or something like that
AAayup...I gotta agree with that one.
Gretchen, girl, buy yourself (or lease) your own private jet ... won’t have a prob.
