The price of said ticket? $20,589.00 Each
Shame on the Red Sox for allowing this.
I think the fact that people can blow that kind of scratch on a baseball game is a good thing.
Do you have a problem with the free market?
Do they give a refund after the Rockies proceed to sweep?
If some schmuck will pay it, then what do you care? My guess is that the price will come way, way down before the first pitch is even thrown ... welcome to the free market.
The buyer better assure that there's going to be a game 7.
I am not a scalper. However I am a long time concert goer .. and I've seen my share of scalpers getting 'scalped' themselves, as well as them profiting handily. It's a win/win, win/lose, lose/win proposition when dealing with the secondary ticket market ... sometimes the scalpers make out, sometimes they don't. Sometimes the buyer makes out, sometimes they don't ... its all a matter of the right ticket with the right price at the right time, there is nothing predictable about it.
Most likely this $20,000+ offer on StubHub, for what appear to be *tremendous* seats right by the BoSox dugout, will eventually sell for much less than what they are initially advertised for .... I'm gonna guess prolly $5k per tix, and might even keep an eye on it just for fun ;)
Figure that the seller is banking on a Game 7, which means that all the marbles are up for grabs in a potential Game 7 ... so they are pricing these tix accordingly (in advance), as a *HUGE* World Series game where the winner walks away with "The Silverware" and the loser gets to strip their sweaty uniforms off to somberly declare "wait'll next year" ..... If it happens, who wouldn't want to be at that game?
Also, these tix are in Boston where a Game 7 would be played, and as such there is no shortage of Boston millionaires where $20,000+ per tix is a 'mere bag of shells' (to quote Ralph Cramdon:) ... I see nothing wrong with this 'scalper' trying to maximize their return on investment, as long as its legal (which it is)
We'll see how this WS goes, and will keep an eye on these tix ... just for a laugh ;)
MM
And there are billionaires who spend 1/2 billion to buy a team in order to sit anywhere they want. Mark Cuban says if his bid to buy the Cubs succeeds he will be a Bleacher Bum in right field.
Why?
What? Not on the rooftop of one of the buildings across the street?
Cuban must not be a *real* Cubs fan then .... /laughs
LoL!
he’s pals with the ownership. He can get in for free if
he wants to.
Fans are often shut out of the process while ticket brokers wind up getting a lot of the tix then turn around and jack the price up. Scalping tix is illegal but people turn a blind eye to this. The Sox say that scalping is not permitted but they do nothing to stop the resale of their tickets by people who are violating the terms of the purchase agreement.
I like the Rockies and am pulling for them, mainly because of Willy-T (yes, I am an Astros fan), but I just don’t know how well they’ll do against the Red Sox.
It will be a Great Series!
I am already feeling baseball-deprived. I had to watch CSI-Miami last night!
Hey,if the Rockies players want to sweep the dugout before a game that's fine.....but their winning streak ends in about 26 hours.
Is that the seat that I saw that Dork Kerry sitting in at game 1 or 2 and the seat that I see that other Dork, Ben Affleck sitting in often.
Wow! A picture of kerry cheering on Manny Ortiz!!!
