I didn’t listen to the John Ziegler program. It wasn’t that I didn’t appreciate his production, it’s just that my wife and I spend the evenings together and I didn’t become a listener.
It’s too bad a solid guy is going off the air. Sorry to hear it.
I agree with John’s views concerning support for the war. What makes it even worse, is that our Congressional leaders are abandoning that fight. That is unforgivable and unacceptable.
One additional thing that rankles me, is that contrary to what Bush initially said, we have carved out certain terrorist organizations that we will not label as such or seek to destroy. Bush has proposed we give another $400 million to the Palestinians, even though they do not support a Jewish state in the Middle-East.
It really does disturb me that we’re whistling past the graveyard on that one.
Thanks for you support of Ziegler. I don’t like losing public figures that seem to have a clue.

Oh, so now it is a conspiracy that he was booted by KFI? What did he do, kick Leah Brandon’s horse?
I didnt like Ziegler either... I think it started when he was cited for violating the gore point on the Sunset offramp of the 405 Freeway. He droned on and on about how unfair the ticket was, and then trespassed again to try to come up with evidence that somehow he was right. I am pretty sure he lost in court too.
Add to that all the garbage about OJ, and sleeping with Kim Goldman blah blah blah. There was another hour on OJ just this week!
I dont know who KFI will put in the slot...Wayne Resnick is amateur hour too. I guess I will listen to Rusty Humphries on the XM.
Ziegler has rough edges, but many good points. I hope he can find a constructive venue from which to continue his support of the cause.
I work in the Radio biz here in So. Cal. and I can say from experience that ratings and ratings alone will dictate how long you survive. From what I understand John’s ratings showed a steady decline starting about a year after his arrival. Believe me, nobody leaves a high paying gig at KFI to produce a movie. It it unfortunate that he has not set the record straight and allowed this movie rumor to circulate. You may see a parallel between his dishonest departure and his dishonest stance on the Iraq invasion which is what likely caused his ratings to slip thereby ending his career.
I don’t believe that at all.
John Ziegler was the Best.
Happy Thanksgiving, JZ...
The Unofficial John Ziegler Show Fan Site and Forum was born November 21, 2007 in response to The John Ziegler Show ending on KFI AM640 on November 13, 2007. I used to listen to The John Ziegler Show on my drive home from work almost every day since I first found the show on KFI sometime in 2005. John, we will miss you my friend! There are many fans out there that feel the same way I do, this site is for you to keep the spirit of The John Ziegler Show alive and well. There are couple of things you as a JZ fan can do to help: 1. Please take the time to say: The Unofficial hi to John Ziegler 2. Write "Best Of John Ziegler" trascripts, here's one I started today: Saying Goodbye
Wow, your forum is really nice!
Yes, John Ziegler is missed on the radio, I hardly turn on KFI anymore.
Wild men, like Bill Handle, can be entertaining, and John-and-Ken’s over-emotionalism is too draining at times ... but JZ was the REAL THING.
I agree with you - JZ was the real deal, in fact, JZ _was_ KFI as far as I am concerned. I still tune in in the morning from 9-12 to listen to Rush but he's just being syndicated there it's not KFI's program per se.
PS: JZ fans, please pitch-in - don't sit on your hands - register and post to The Unofficial hi to John Ziegler thread and let John know we care!
It’s pretty clear that it has something to do with the J/K thing (John and Ken basically rule the station once they were hired back after KABC). One telling note is when George Noory walked behind JZ at the end... George generally broadcasts out of the Sherman Oaks Premiere facilities (the same studios Dr. Laura broadcasts out of), not out of the KFI facilities in Burbank. Of course, J&K broadcast out of Burbank (unless John is broadcasting from his home studio, which happens several times a month... you can usually tell because his voice sounds somewhat clipped). From public records on the Yarmuth campaign, JZ lived pretty close to the station... now if this is the case, he has to fight rush hour traffic halfway across the Valley to prep his show and is distant physically from the rest of the staff. That can’t be good.
Lets see if I got this right. Your theory is that because JZ and J/K were in bad terms JZ stopped broadcasting from the studio that was next to him in Burbank and instead had to drive across the valley floor into the Sherman Oaks facility?
Look at this Google News alert I received in my email on 12/7/07, and it came with this blurb (From Aloha Ronnie!) and a link for this thread too!
So, I’m going to post it here!

Just for the CLARITY of it.

Basically. You can read some of the radio industry sites (radio-info.com) which confirm that, indeed, Zig was at Premier in Sherman Oaks. Also there was general Clear Channel cost cutting. Kim Amidon was dumped off KOST (the music station) just a month later, and certainly she had great ratings over the 20 some odd years she was on. They fired helicopter reporter Mike Nolan too, and there was no complaint with how he did his work. But experience costs money, whether it is a journeyman talker or a morning show host. So budget cutting + distance away from the station + bad office politics means “mutually deciding” to part company.
