No way! Cute kitties.
Yeah but fresh fir needles smell so good!
My back hurts, too.
Well, at least they can play the piano.
She’s a winner, alright. Her timing is magnificent.
This wreath does smell good..I’m sorry your back hurts, too. Of course I am resting now and mine has settled down..until I get up and DO something...I am serious about the mess I’ve made..so I must get after it a bit at a time.
I bought some candles to burn for company..I’m going to light one for me after I clean up the mess.
That’s so cool, she really is listening and very nearly mimicking the sound.
Glad you enjoy it, I have lots more.
Ah sweet picture.
When you light the candle for yourself, say a prayer.
PT has improved things but my back has been extra cranky the last few days.
Cats are amazing. Sam let’s me know when cooking’s finished in the kitchen if I’m in another room. She lets me know when the microwave beeps and lets me know when food smells good (which is often when it’s done) and it’s very helpful.
My old kitty was a character, too, he knew the sound of the can opener, back in the days of canned cat food. He knew the sound of my friend’s car motor as well as the sound of that car door closing, his ears would perk as he headed for the door to greet them. Very perceptive critter.
I will ..and more than once.
Well, I am tired so gonna watch some tv and then bed. Rest well everyone.
The more I observe them the more I realize that they are a lot more observant than I am.
oo! ooo! oooo!
This poem just won third place in the IYFanguild 4th Quarter Awards for best poem (I’ve added some notes at the end in case it doesn’t make sense):
Weblike, the strands reach up his arm,
further and further,
numbering his hours
in trails of of black laced shouki.
Sometimes, when he thinks he is all alone,
he rolls up his sleeve
and look at the trail,
the death warrant
creeping towards his heart,
At those moments,
he lets the feelings of regret roll through him,
the pain of longing
wrapped up in the sound of her warm voice,
the fire in her eyes,
the touch of her strong hand,
and tries not to let his dreams of what might be
with his dark-haired fighter
rip out his heart.
“Life is suffering,” said the Buddha long ago.
Miroku, watching Sango from the corner of his eye
and knows the truth about attachment.
(Backstory: Miroku is slowly dying from a type of supernatural poisoning, which traces a black line from his arm, moving towards his heart. If it reaches his heart, it will kill him. He has a curse on him that will kill him if the poisoning doesn’t kill him first. He’s madly in love with Sango, who is a woman fighter who he travels with. He’s also a Buddhist priest (raised as a monk since childhood, but he’s a man who loves women, maybe too much, nonetheless). If he can break the curse, he hopes to marry his beloved, but it’s still iffy if he’ll live long enough.
Anyway, I was surprised when this piece was nominated, and even more surprised that it placed.
Just goes to show you!
Way to go, really insightful poem, and wonderful that you make such inroads towards the goal you seek.
WOW, Knitting this is so exciting! I am very happy for you!!
Beautiful poem, mysterious! Keep writing. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Off to judge an outdoor dog costume contest in a little while and it's below freezing!
Well, I am off for the day, daughter’s birthday, see ya later.
Okay, bundle up, I am off too. We have about 5” of snow on the ground and it is cold. Weather is going to get real lousy this afternoon, freezing rain, what have you.
Snow is imminent. You got 5”, huh? It’s been too cold too early this season.
Happy daughter’s birthday!!
Sugar frosting on the shrubs. Cute!
I think we might be in for just slush here south of Boston.
It’s beginning to rain now. UGH! I think it will be a short party, I have prepared a dish to pass and the rest of the family will bring something.
It can get very nasty, very rapidly out in the boonies. No picnic driving on ice and slush.
Have fun at the dog show, pictures, we need pictures.
Chin up! You don’t drive, so maybe driving’s not as difficult as it looks.
Just got back and need rest and warmth before downloading photos. Standing outside in this 20 degree weather for two hours takes a lot out of you.
Just got home from the party. Great time was had by all. Roads were more slushy this evening but not frozen. Everyone left early to get home before darkness set in. It has warmed up a lot from this morning, however, there is a storm warning out for tonight and into tomorrow morning. Soooo.. we shall see, glad I don’t have to be out tomorrow.
5-8 inches snow, 19 degrees, heading down towards the 5 degrees for tonight, and a very good reason to stay inside, and enjoy snuggling on the couch, and watching old movies together.
Ah, you got hit with it too. Well it is quiet now, and I am safe and warm watching Cold Case files. I should change the channel I will dream bad things.
Snuggle in with Nan and enjoy the movies.
“Snuggle in with Nan and enjoy the movies.”
OH yeah, snuggled and lov’n it!
Great, well I am off to snuggle in the wool blanket. See you tomorrow. Only stick your nose out the door, do not venture out. ;0)
I have a fire in the fireplace, outside white Christsmas lights on a tall bunch of nandina outside of the patio door,Handel playing..I have finished decorating for Christmas..No more boxes out! It looks great!
I decided to just keep at it until I was happy with it..The pine needles are swept up but the kitchen needs work..tomorrow.
I haven’t been on the computer today so I’ll have to catch up.
I started putting the lights up outside as a cold front hit so the fire feels nice. We’ll warm up to the 50s tomorrow. I was out in lightweight cotton short sleeves earlier. Another big change.
Fir needles..not pine
LOL..I had to look..I am hitting all the wrong letters tonight..
Good Morning, Ms Feather!
My you have been a busy lady! Sounds lovely Meg! I would love to see the patio lights.
Now a batch of gingerbread men baking - talk about enticing!
