LOS ANGELES - Kiefer Sutherland was sentenced Wednesday to 48 days in jail in his drunken driving case, prosecutors said. Sutherland appeared in court with his attorney for the sentencing.

He had pleaded no contest for driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit of .08 following his Sept. 25 arrest.

Assistant City Attorney Dan Jeffries said a Superior Court judge ordered that the actor serve 48 days in Glendale city jail. Sutherland must begin the sentence before March 30, Jeffries said.

That’s actually a pretty stiff sentence if it’s a first. I got probation for my first.

Question is, will he serve the full 48?

He could throw a Hilton Hissy fit and maybe get out in 2 hours.

Writers still out on strike, right? The timing could work. Kiefer, here’s praying that you get your act together.

Wow! He gets 48 days and the girls get two minutes. Justice? I think not. Although this is his second time so who knows how many days he will actually do. The timing of this is perfect. Hopefully he will just do the jail sentence right away so when the strike is over he can go directly back to filming 24!!!

No prison can hold Jack Bauer...

He will do his 48 days in 24 hours, cause Jack Bauer can do anything in 24 hours.

At least he is taking his punishment....

This could be the last season of 24. Last year’s ratings sucked and sutherland is the highest paid actor on tv. And if a marginal show has its star in trouble with the law it might not be renewed.
To insure that the ratings are good the show must return to form. Draw inspiration from it’s history of ruthlessness, and violence.

This could be the last season of 24. Last year’s ratings sucked ..

I wasn’t there at the start, I only came on midstream of the show’s, and have not bought the DVDs of the whole shebang.

plus, they finally took out the main chinese badguy, Jack’s Dad and brother and the creepy Russkie and Arab bad dudes, old Prez Logan even came back to get whacked around.. Heck between patching up Palmer and Logan,, the WH Doc deserves an Emmy.

lots of holes to fill ,, good thing Kiefer has lots of time to mull his next option, wasn’t a ‘24’ movie in the works? ;-)

I think the movie is dead unless the show’s ratings pick up. I think it started off as a top 10 hit then the ratings collasped as the season wore on. I think season’s 4 and 5 were the best. Hopefully they’ll rebound next year. If the writer’s strike ever ends.
