More people watched the New England Patriots squeeze past the Baltimore Ravens on ESPN's "Monday Night Football" than viewed any other program in the history of cable TV.

Game drew a total aud of 17.5 million viewers, besting the previous record of 17.2 million set in August by Disney Channel's "High School Musical 2."

The Patriots are undefeated and could end up as the second NFL team ever to go through an entire season without a loss (the Miami Dolphins did it in 1972).

ESPN's Monday cablecast of the Patriots-Ravens bout finished first for the night among programs on all broadcast and cable nets in total viewers and in all of the key adult demographics.

At least there were no refs to hose up “High School Musical 2.”

Even I watched and I find MNF to be almost unwatchable. Next week they have the saints-falcons game. I suspect we’ll have different ratings records for that one.

If the Pats can get by their next game with a win they should finish the season undefeated.

Ouch! That was indeed amazing --- pathetic, but amazing!

The only one doing anything right at ESPN is the cameraman. Their talking heads suck rotten eggs!

"Next week they have the saints-falcons game. I suspect we’ll have different ratings records for that one."

Then they'll set the record for the biggest 1-week drop off in ratings in cable television history. But I doubt anyone will write an article about that.

Count the times that Kornheiser gushes, "Everybody knows...."

If everybody knows, Tony, why do we need you

Actually, I think Jarworski is a pretty good analyst -- a shame he has to share air time with the obnoxious Kornheiser.

Next season they should get Kornheiser to team up with Bryant Gumble for MNF play by play.

You mean Thursday nights on NFLN? It would be a step up from Collinsworth, at least.

Fantastic game, even if you’re not a fan either way. Certainly unexpected.

The ratings certainly were not due to homely Kornheiser. I hope MNF/ESPN doesn’t think that!

I’ll wager the game didn’t have terrific ratings at first, then went sky-high as the night wore on and word spread that it wasn’t the expected pummeling.

A team like the Pats are ratings gold right now.

I’ll have a full house to watch the Giants/Pats game 12/29 on the NFL network on my Dish. People are falling all over themselves to bring cases of beer, pizza, snacks etc.
