Actually, I think Jarworski is a pretty good analyst -- a shame he has to share air time with the obnoxious Kornheiser.

I like Jaws too, but he will jump on the touchy-feely side of an issue quicker than you can say "Pollock Bowl".

Game drew a total aud of 17.5 million viewers, besting the previous record of 17.2 million set in August by Disney Channel's "High School Musical 2.",

Meanwhile, back in the real world, "High School Musical 2" alone wipes the floor with not just the "game", but the whole of the NFL!

“...The Patriots are undefeated and could end up as the second NFL team ever to go through an entire season without a loss...”

Until they get to Glendale and meet up with the Dallas Cowboys. The outcome will be different in that meeting. The Cowboys learn from their mistakes.

Good gosh....you mean it beat out the Packers/Cowboys game on the NFL Network last Thursday? I find that so hard to believe. < /sarcasm>

Ohhh...you mean like THIS "hosed" up call that took place 10 yards beyond the line of scrimmage? Or are you referring to the failure of the refs to call pass interference on Dawan Landry in the end zone on the same play (as they should have) which would have given the Patriots the ball on the one yard line?

The only thing that was hosed, and Randy Moss alluded to it, was that they let the thugs get away with it for three quarters.

Betcha if you come within 10 yards of “Tom Terrific,” they call “roughing the passer.” Count how many times Boller got mauled.

Drinking that N.E. Kool Aid again ain’t you, “Dynasty Man?”

Me thinks you are comparing apples and cheese, big!

The article says, "Game drew a total audience of 17.5 million viewers, besting the previous record of 17.2 million set in August by Disney Channel's 'High School Musical 2.'"

Not to take anything away from the Pats/Dirtybird's game, but just recently (Maybe a few weeks, maybe a month or so ago) I saw an article on maybe NFL.com or one of those TV websites, that said that any 2006 Cowboy's game available on FOX, CBS, NBC or ESPN averaged, IIRC, nearly 16 million viewers and in 2007 it was nearly 19 million compared with most NFL games 10 - 12 million draws. That is why all the networks always want Dallas on their schedule. Be it support as American's Team or hatred for Jerry's Boys, they always draw a great TV audience.

I am also sure that if the recent Packer/Cowboy's Thursday Night tussle had been on any other than the NFL Network that reaches only 30 someodd millions homes, the rating would have been much, much higher than the 17.5 million ESPN MNF got for the Pats/Ravens game.

Consider this, the Pack/Dal game got over 10 million views on NFL Network, about one-third of the total homes it was in. If shown on ESNP with its 90 million plus homes available, one-third of that would be over 30 million viewers.

Now, big, take off the cheesebra between games, man! The fumes might be tilting your better judgment!

BTW Anyone know if there is going to be a LIVE THREAD for Da Bears' night time snack of roadkill deadskin?

Well, you tell me. Looks to me like “Tom Terrific” took some pretty good hits, and no penalty was called. There were at least two hard sacks.

I saw nothing that would constitute a penalty on the Ravens sacking Brady, and there was nothing unclean or late about the way the Patriots put pressure on Boller.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Do you?

As for drinking the Kool Aid, I enjoy watching the game. I am a season ticket holder, and if the Patriots lost on Monday night or lose next Sunday, I am going to be able to go on with my life. It is a game, pal.

Indeed I do. It is called "karma" and as Lennon said, "it's going to get you."

Indeed it is. I too have season tickets and will be there this Sunday night. Have Steeler dreams, pal!

What does “karma” have to do with this? You start off by implying “Tom Terrific” is the poster child of the officials who are his guardian angels to protect him from anyone within 10 feet, then you segue into denigrating me as a “kool aid” drinker. I presume you acted in this bizarre way because I had the temerity to point out an obvious and entirely TRUTHFUL point that other people (some of them drinking a “kool aid” of irrational hatred over an opponent in a GAME) have a a mental short circuit over.

It sounds to me like you need to put being a football fan down on the ground and step back ten feet.

Perhaps you should re-read the parts of “Theology and Sanity” you didn’t underline.

On second thought, don’t. You sound like someone who has already spent too much time looking at that stuff.

If the Pats can get by their next game with a win they should finish the season undefeated.

You're probably right. Unfortunately, the Steelers are one tough team. We shall see.

I'm going to be a basket case by game time. :)

yeah...you never know in football but with the Pats I think its pretty safe to say they have the upper edge as long as they continue to play football.

If they start playing conservatively or start holding players out because they want to "preserve" them for the playoffs. they'll be done.

I don't think they'd do that, but I'm not the coach. Still, I know Brady for one wants to play the entire game, every game. I wouldn't doubt that they all feel the same.

It never is the players...it's always the coaches.

Case in point..take the Washington Redskins (please take them as Henny Youngman would say)

The Redskins have played a total of 13 games with some interesting stats:
1..With the exception of one game, they have led their opponent in the other 12 games at one time and have managed to lose that lead in 6 games and go down to defeat.
2..Some of those leads were double digit and into the 4th quarter and they still managed to lose.
3..In the games that they won, with the exception of 1, they still tried to lose and barely squeaked by with a win.
4..In only 2 games out of 13 have the Redskins played a full 60 minutes of football. They coincidentally won those 2 games.

Now, for the $64,000 question, what does this tell you??

:-)

It is so true, that any team can beat any other team on a given day. To be able to go an entire season and maintain the mental and physical discipline it takes to beat ANY team in the NFL is going to be a task indeed.

Sure, it is going to be tough for the Patriots to beat the Steelers, but...let’s face it, it will be just as tough for the Steelers to beat the Pats.

And remember...the Jets, Dolphins and Giants are JUST as much a threat to beat the Patriots on any given Sunday...all it takes is the right confluence of events. And we have ALL seen those events transpire before. The Patriots (and any NFL team for that matter) MUST arrive ready to play in order to win in this league.

There was a famous fighter ace (cannot remember which one) who said that he treated every single opponent he met in air-to-air combat as if he were the Red Baron himself. He NEVER underestimated anyone, and used his A-Game any time he was in a fight. For a team such as the Patriots to go undefeated, they must do the same with their opponents.

That is why it is so tough to undefeated in any sport, the NFL in particular. It just is not possible in baseball, hockey or basketball due to the number of games. It is just so difficult to prepare consistently, mentally and physically each and every contest.

I think the Patriots are good enough to do it...but THEY have to do it.
