Prayer request From Jackknife | 12/14/2007 7:36:16 AM MST I need prayer. Yesterday (12-13) I had minor surgery to remove bone spurs from my right big toe. Although it was minor surgery, I am now experiencing extremely severe pain, and am going to be laid up for three weeks recovering. I would very much appreciate the prayers of my FRiends here at FR. I am being well taken care of by Mrs. Jackknife, and other than the terrible pain, all is good with the post-op progression. Thanks for your help. (Jackknife) |

Prayers for your pain.
Jackknife, have someone get you some Arnica cream and Arnica pain pills. It is a natural homeopathic pain reliever and it can work to really take the edge off the pain you are experiencing.

Just reading that made me cringe. Had my toenail on my big toe removed, and it was almost 6 mos before I could wear my normal shoes again. I had to buy a bigger size shoe, keep my toe moist, with creams and ointments, lots of soaking. Hope and pray your journey through recovery isn’t as difficult as mine was.

Our nerve endings are in our toes and fingers. Any injury there, and the pain can be unbearable.
I have broken my toe a couple times - and got NO sympathy. Nada. And it hurt horribly! For some reason - people just don’t realize that the extremities can be the most painful point on the body.
Prayers, SYMPATHY, and big hugs to you and the Missus. ~yorkie

Hi Jackknife! Prayers for relief from the pain you are experiencing, and prayers for a quick and complete recovery! I had foot surgery about a year or so ago, and the pain was a lot more than I had expected (and I didn’t have bone removed). Hang in there!

Broke my big toe in two places on December 3rd.
I’m still hobbling around from the pain. Surprising how often we bend that toe every day without thinking about it!
Will pray for the request by the original poster!

Did you get sympathy and prayers? I had a double bunion surgery many, many years ago - casts on both legs - I wish I had had these prayer warriors behind me, then.
Prayers are still coming, Jackknife!

Got prayers and a bit of sympathy. The accident that broke the toe happened at work, at a Christian organization, in front of a coworker. The first question I asked once I could say anything more coherent than "ouch!" was to verify that I had not used too many curse words. My coworker assured me that he would have done worse!

Prayers up. Post-op pain can be difficult, but with enough tea, mothering, and pharmaceuticals, you’ll get past this and on to recovery. : ) It’s good to know that everything else is progressing the way it should.

Happily, or not so happily, many have experienced the agony that accompanies digit damage, whether accidental or intentional.

Prayers from Texas Mr. Jackknife. I too had foot surgery and I know how painful the recovery is. I sure hope you have one of those electrical gizmos that short-circuits the pain from reaching the brain. I think it saved my life! ;-)

UPDATE: Well, first, THANKS for all of the prayers, as they have been felt. I got some sleep last night, and the pain is less severe today. My bandage has electronic leads coming out the top near my ankle, and I have a device called a 'TENS' unit (about the size of an old Coleco Football game) that I use to control pain. It sends a current that I can control through my foot that helps by causing the body to create endorphins, somehow, in reaction to the electricity. Bizarre, but it works. I am ok as long as I keep the leg horizontal. When I get up to hobble to the bathroom, the pounding pain hits with the rush of blood through the leg. Horizontal good , vertical bad. Heh Heh. I'll be catching up on some movies I have wanted to watch, do some reading, writing, and playing vid games for the next couple of weeks. Again, thank y'all for the prayers and kind thoughts ...... they really help !!
