TRENTON, New Jersey (AP) -- New Jersey on Friday became the first state to require flu shots for preschoolers, saying their developing immune systems and likelihood of spreading germs make them as vulnerable to complications as the elderly.

State Health Commissioner Dr. Fred M. Jacobs approved the requirement and three other vaccines for school children starting September 1, 2008, over the objections of some parent groups.

The new requirements "will have a direct impact on reducing illnesses, hospitalizations and deaths in one of New Jersey's most vulnerable populations -- our children," Jacobs said in a statement.

When this comes to my state, our kids go to Christian school. They are forcing children to get flu shots (laced with mercury) while most parents in order not to miss work send them to school with strep throat and worse, this is sickening ....

Scythian, they haven’t used thimersol in flu shots for a very, very long time.

Even if they were, a ten year study in Sweden (as I recall) showed there was absolutely no relationship between vaccines and the hideous side-effects they were supposed to create.Children-ALL of whom received thimersol-free inoculations-had exactly the same percentage of “side effects” that had been experienced in the days before thimersol was eliminated.

The purpose of thimersol (as you may recall)was antiseptic: it killed off bacteria that normally contaminate vaccine batches.

For what it is worth,school-age children have proven to be the primary vector of flu. In Japan, influenze was almost totally eliminated by making the inoculation of children mandatory.

Sorry, you are mistaken

Does the influenza vaccine contain thimerosal?
Yes, the majority of influenza vaccines distributed in the United States currently contain thimerosal as a preservative. However, some contain only trace amounts of thimerosal and are considered by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to be preservative-free. Manufacturers of preservative-free flu vaccine use thimerosal early in the manufacturing process. The thimerosal gets diluted as the vaccine goes through the steps in processing. By the end of the manufacturing process there is not enough thimerosal left in the vaccine to act as a preservative and the vaccine is labeled “preservative-free”.

I live in NJ, my son goes to a PRIVATE non state funded pre-school. I asked as soon as the bill was signed if they will require the shot, they said, unfortunately yes. I told them they should talk to their lawyers now. Cause there is no way in hell I will give my son a shot I was almost fatally allergic to. I don’t care if it is a different strain every year, I just don’t care. I almost died from the “flu” I got just 5 days AFTER i had the shot. I will not risk my sons life in that way. It’s the flu people, not freaking POLIO.

/rant off

You are quite correct. The main message, however,is also correct.Depite the efforts of certain trial lawyers and self-inflated “experts” , there seems to be no scientifically discoverable link between vaccines and autism (etc.).
