The two brothers injured in the Christmas Day tiger attack at the San Francisco Zoo have refused to let police examine photos on their cell phones that authorities believe were taken the day they were mauled and their friend was killed.

< snip >

"We also understand that police officers requested permission from your clients to examine any images and other contents of the cell phone. Your clients refused to cooperate with this request; consequently, no one has yet examined this potentially critical evidence."

Wasn’t there a rumor that they were taunting the animal?

From the sound of it, the cell phones are in police custody but the brothers have yet to give permission for them to be viewed?

"the cell phones and the car are currently being held by the San Francisco Police Department but have not been searched"

Here's another article which is more detailed.

I’m sorry you posted that.

It's a logical conclusion to draw from the failure of the kids to cooperate.

Well if you consider an eye witness and police examining a large rock, a tree branch and other items in the tiger enclosure rumor....then I guess so.

S.F. Zoo visitor saw 2 victims of tiger attack teasing lions

Police examining items for signs tiger was taunted

Thanks. You would think that they would already have a court order. Da’s have to ask representing lawyers for permission?

This story is getting better by the minute...

You mean these punks, AFTER TAUNTING the animal, even TOOK PICS of the action?

Throw em in jail! Oh wait, this is San Francisco...they’ll probably get a parade from PETA.

There has been speculation by many about these idiots taking pictures or using their cell phone to capture video of their visit to the zoo. Maybe even uploading said video to youtube. Now it’s looking like it’s true.

PETA would want them executed.

There was an animal euthanized over this remember.

"In the interests of getting to the real facts of this tragedy, we propose a simultaneous inspection of the car and cell phones by experts retained by your clients and the City Attorney's Office," Herrera wrote.

LOL, that has got to be the biggest grasping a straws letter I have ever heard. LOL,

Not going to happen Herrera!

I am sorry anyone was killed, including the tiger . However I don’t like animal abusers. I don’t want to see them dead but darn it these adults should have known better. They weren’t young kids who you could say didn’t know any better. These guys did. The zoo is at fault for not protecting the tigers better too. They should have had a bigger wall & something up to stop people from throwing stuff at any of their animals. Video cameras should have been in place & the zoo needs guards walking around making sure nothing bad is happening. I still don’t understand why a zoo would be open on Christmas either.

Thanks. I saw they got minor fines in 99(?) for food and sanitation? You would have thought they would have looked at the wall too.

they can easily be erased. If they sent them to anyone that is a different story. There may be a record of it with the cell company.

Yep! There are very many people who feel that way. And they have shown their sympathy for the death of the tiger by bringing flowers and toy tigers and pictures to the zoo and created a memorial for the tiger after the zoo reopened.

I would have done the same.

I can’t argue with that. It’s looking more and more like the one that got killed may have been a tag a long . You see that about a witness saying there were 4 of them?
