DIXIE CHICKS HAVE FLOWN THE COOP
National Enquirer ^ | 1/5/08 | National Enquirer

The Dixie Chicks are partners in name only - the multi-platinum- selling trio is all but broken up, according to a source close to the group.

Natalie Maines and sisters Martie Maguire and Emily Robison made just a handful of appearances together in 2007 - and now they rarely even talk, the source reveals.

"The girls have gone their separate ways," the source close to the Texas-raised country musicians told The ENQUIRER.

"They were not getting along when they toured together during 2006, but they managed to stay civil. Now when they're not forced to be together, the girls don't even stay in touch."

In 2007, the trio - who weathered a tsunami of criticism after Natalie bashed President Bush in 2003 over Iraq - appeared together at the Grammy Awards in February, taking home five Grammys.

The National Enquirer is a source for news at the Free Republic now ?

Well I guess if we let the New York Times in we have to let them in too ;-)

The national Enquirer is much more dependable than the NYT, Always has been!

I would bet that the Enquirer is substantially more reliable than the NY Times.

Their only good song was their break-in hit, anyway.

The author of this piece is definitely trying to put some lipstick on this pig. I bet the group has never recovered from Natalie’s idiot mouth.

It’s because Natalie’s going solo. Their last album wasnt even a Chicks album, it was a pop-rock Natalie solo disc. What use does she have for a fiddle and banjo player?

It’s the Justin Timberlake/Gwen Stefani syndrome; As soon as the lead singer realizes they’re the ones selling all the discs, they get a little sick of splitting royalies with the back-up singers that no one really cares about.

I really hope Country can get a handle on the radio audience and sales implosion they’ve been going thru over the last few years. A lot of big country labels are sucking so much cash out of the rap and rock end of the conglom’s profit machine to stay afloat, you’ve gotta think a few of them are going to get shuttered pretty soon.

ya’know I always wondered if Martie Maguire and Emily Robison were dragged reluctantly into Natalie Maines’ political tsunami.

Well they don’t have to worry about marketing any of the rap and rock stuff to me.

Yeah, they probably resent her in a huge way for tainting their legacy.

1 of the sisters, Marnie I think, complained during the press tour about their complete lack on input on the album, and the fact that Rick Rubin and Neil Finn were only interested in writing with Natalie, and re-jiggering their sound so it would play on AC/AOR/CHR to make up for losing their country home base. Natalie may not have given a crap about country, but the 2 sisters are bluegrass musicians thru and thru.

I bet the group has never recovered from Natalie’s idiot mouth.

It always amazes me that the entertainment industry (including the MSM) actively goes out of its way to insult their customers, then wonder why they went out of business. It is a testament to the utter arrogance of the liberal mindset.

The sisters seemed like class acts. It was Natalie that threw the bomb, but they had to go thru the death threats and other garbage. Not fair. The fact that they remained loyal to Natalie on a least some level probably says a lot about their moral fiber. It would’ve been easy for them to get themselves out of it by publicly comdeming Natalie’s remarks and washing their hands of the ditchpig.

Same with the liberal newspapers. Losing readership left and right and still peddling liberal BS.

perhaps that’s one solution...but they may not have been political one way or another to begin with, which made it all the more complicated.
