An infuriated judge doubled OJ Simpson's bail in an armed robbery case after he breached a court order by attempting to contact a co-defendant.
OJ Simpson in court after breaching a court order
The disgraced former sports star, who was jailed in Las Vegas on Friday after the breach came to light, was ordered to post bail of $250,000 (£120,000) and put his Florida home up as additional surety.
Judge Jackie Glass told the ex-footballer he would not be released until 15 per cent of the new bail had been raised and she had legal papers to prove he had put his home up as security.
She ruled Simpson, 60, had violated the terms of bail set in November at $125,000 by leaving a profanity-strewn telephone message with his bail bondsman for one of his co-defendants.
Judge Jackie Glass warned Simpson he would go to jail for future violations
Ms Glass accused Simpson of "arrogance or ignorance".
"I don't know what the heck you were thinking Mr Simpson, or maybe that's just the problem - you weren't thinking," the judge said.
"I don't know if it's just arrogance or ignorance but youve been locked up since Friday because of arrogance or ignorance, or both."
She also warned Simpson any future violations would result in his bail being permanently revoked.
Simpson was bailed after his alleged involvement in an armed robbery
"Let me make sure that you understand that if you violate those rules and anything like this happens in future it won't matter what (defence lawyers) tell me you'll be back locked up," the judge said.
Simpson's lawyer said he was "truly contrite about what has occurred".
The former sports icon, who was famously acquitted of the 1994 murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman, is due to go on trial in April for a confrontation at a Las Vegas hotel last September in which he allegedly robbed two sports memorabilia dealers.
He is expected to face court in April over the robbery
With two associates, he faces 12 charges relating to the alleged robbery and could be jailed for life if convicted.
Simpson has pleaded not guilty.
O.J. is circling the bowl. He’ll die in jail.
ruh roh....sounds like he got a torked judge on this case, foflol!
If the judge was truly “infuriated” she would have set his bail at $2 million....cash.
White female judge...
Whats the over/under on when OJ screams racism/sexism?
Finally, for the first time, his bluster is punchered
That said, he only has to come up with $37,500 for bail. He probably has a number of people he can blackmail for that.
I wonder, will he go back before the same judge for trial in April?
If so, I hope she's got some serious back-watchers.
I would also consider him a flight risk. By now, he must be getting the hint that this time he's not to skate through.
If he jumps bail I might become a bounty hunter.
LOL,,,Here Come De’ Judge !,,,;0)
We need Flip!
TITLE of article:......
OJ Simpson Slammed By Judge In US
Forehead smack....well golly gee, I thought this trial was taking place in Japan.....
WHO the F*** cares ???????
And I live here in Las Vegas.
And you post this crap in "News/Activism"......???
Go watch Opra if this is what turns you on, what you think is "News/Activism"........
What's the latest on Britney and with child little sister.........you failed to post that "News" ......
Sorry for the rant.....get way too much of the OJ sh!t here - and it is not 'News'.
OJ hasn’t been “truly contrite” since he got out of diapers.
How a lawyer can stand there in front of the cameras and the judge and even say the words is a huge joke.
OJ doesn’t deserve to have ANY kind of bail- house or no house. If he is going to run, he won’t be in the house, anyway.
The best that could happen is that he runs and that the bail bondsman hires DOG to go after OJ.
So the Juice is no longer on the loose?
I think Judge Glass proved the old joke that Lawyers mouth and asshole is interchangable and she took a laxative this morning!
Her little outburst was unprofessional and in my opinion, she abused her position as a Judge and deserves to be disbared! I think it is getting out of control the way Judges think they can talk to people and abuse their power by intimidating people in such a way as to defy them to challenge them.
I think OJ is a joke... but the Judge is a completely unprofessional ass to open her mouth and show the World she hasn’t got the professional composure to ettiquete to sit on the bench!
OJ will be doin’ flips awrite...;0)
That was a goodun, CM. I’m sure he likely will be....I’m not seeing too good a future in this here court for him.....
I guess my point is / was that this is just all over CNN/ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX....YBS....it's just sick.....it is not news worthy.
What it is...is...nothing more than crap on a nut job that should have been in jail a long time ago.
I want to see his a$$ in jail, too. Where it belongs.
We used to have several judges here that would have slapped the sh!t out of Mr. Celeb - and thrown away the key. Those days are gone......
OJ was witness-tampering, a violation of his terms of release. In “Nevada, bribing or intimidating a witness to influence testimony is a Class C felony punishable by one to five years in prison.” I think OJ needed some wake up before he gets some whoop@ss.
I’m with you....
it’s poetic he’s getting his butt chewed by a female.
The funny thing is, if he shows up in court with the money coming from himself, the Goldman’s can take the money. He has to get the money from a third party (according to Nancy Grace)
now that would be poetic justice....
It’s absolutely scandalous that the Goldman’s have gotten nothing from this jerk.
I am also hopping that the Jury pool has a better gene pool in Las Vegas!
Alas, all bets are off....
Half of Califungus has moved here since the original OJ event.......
Thank you :)
Man, I like this judge. OJ is finding out that he’s not in California anymore. As Marko Ramius said, “Today the game is different”. I’ll be watching this case.
Yes, and didn't it then turn out to be a fake?
I didn't know armed robbery can bring possible life imprisonment. Is this a Nevada thing?
