In a deluge of emails to Reuters, they say they misrepresent just how popular they think that they really are.Self-deluded bunch of......
I guess they just can't admit that people don't like them as much as they think people should.

Clowns are NOT funny, especially when they have “-D” next to their names.

I’ve never seen “IT”.
Mimes are aggrivating and clowns outright piss me off.
I go out of my way to avoid either.
The only clown I’ve every found remotely funny is Krusty.
Clowns perceive wrongly how much they are liked or not liked. I know only a few people who like clowns and quite a few who are more hostile towards them than I am.
I worked with a guy that was a part-time clown. Before I knew that about him I thought he was one of the most untrustworthy, amoral and just creepy people I’d ever met.
And then he admitted to being a clown.
The only funny clown (besides Krusty) is the unintentional clown.

I have always felt really uncomfortable with clowns. Not really scared but very uncomfortable. Even as a tot I could not figure out why people like them. I wonder if it was because the adults around me hated clowns but pretended they were funny because they thought they were supposed to for my sake?? This whole clown thing is interesting to me.

Everyone knows that clowns are from outer space.
