Yeah, because Massachusetts is just chock-full of FReepers, right-wing evangelicals and hardcore small-government types.

Don't forget those hardcore second amendment types there too......

But I will go to my grave before I sit on my ass and do nothing--or waste my vote on a third party candidate or write-in, which as tantamount to doing nothing--and allow a dem to win the general.

This attitude is exactly why the GOP is trending left -- they think all right-wingers are as mindless as you, so they have no incentive not to move left in order to get more votes. You enable GOP liberalism, just like many black voters keep rewarding Democrats who have nothing but contempt for their values.

If you think the key to a Republican win is in getting "independents" and "moderate Democrats" to cross over and not conservatives to turn out to vote, you are sadly mistaken.

You never heard of Reagan democrats?

Wrong, wrong, and wrong. I'm not the reason the GOP is trending to the left. I'm making a distinction between the primaries/caucuses and the general election. There are all sorts of candidates that I would never vote for in a primary, Rudy being a prime example. Would I vote for Rudy in the general? He's as pro-abort as any dem, but I certainly trust him to make SCOTUS choices more than I would trust ANY dem. I would vote for him in the general.

The primaries are where you try to make your point. Being involved at a grassrotts level is where you make a difference. Handing the dems the Presidency for four years...you want to think of that as noble, you go right ahead. You stick to your guns.

Maybe future President Hillary Clinton will send you a thank-you card. Mindless, indeed.

Really? If the GOP establishment knows that you will vote for the Republican candidate, no matter who it is or what their policy positions are, wouldn't they be fools NOT to push liberal candidates since they have a greater chance of also attracting moderate/liberal voters?

You need to think about where this country will be in 10 or 20 years, not 10 months.

Please tell me you didn’t join just to post this...

He probably did.

I always love when people (especially noobies) post a 'Vanity' and then fail to participate in their own thread.

*eye roll*

Yes, and if it hadn't been the conservative nature of Reagan combined with the moronic twits he was running against each time, they wouldn't have made any difference had the base not been mobilized. Read my post 29 above.

Don’t get me wrong. McCain is not Reagan. And he is no Reagan Republican.

But unfortunately, he may be the best we can do this time around.

Better him than Hillary.

There may very well be SCOTUS choices made in the next ten to twenty months which will still be around in ten or twenty years. You want to let some damn dem make those decisions just so you can gotcha the GOP? And you think I'm part of the problem?

Remind me, what damn party nominated seven of the nine current justices on our pro-abortion, anti-first-amendment, anti-property-rights Supreme Court? Do you want more Kennedys, Souters and Stevenses?

That would be the same damn party that gave us Alito, Roberts, Scalia and Thomas, wouldn't it?

If you're not happy with the eventual nominee, fine. Sit it out, write one in, vote third party, do whatever the hell you want. Don't bitch when we have four years of a dem heading up the Executive, though, and don't call yourself a Republican. By definition, a Republican is someone who votes Republican.

I really don't get people like you, I don't. I don't want to.

Not very common on this forum, but when I'm wrong, I admit it.

I was wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. I won't vote for Mc****, not even if he picked Newt as a running mate. My time, energy and financial resources are going toward the campaigns of any real conservatives running for legislature seats.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get good and drunk and pretend the past week hasn't actually happened.
