Got a phone call earlier today from the RNC. A nice young lady reminded me Hitlery had raised $100 Million and we needed to defeat her.
She asked if I was a strong Republican. "yes!" I answered.
Asked if I could give some money for the cause.
I told her I would give to a conservative candidate, but if we nominate John McCain, I couldn't donate.
She said she hoped I'd still support the nominee, even if I didn't agree with them on every issue....and that is when I lost it.
Not totally...I was nice, and I told her I wasn't blaming her and knew she was just making the calls...but I said, basically, I don't agree with John McCain on a TON of important issues!! I rattled them off: Free Speech, Amnesty, Global Warming, Tax Cuts....
she listened respectfully.
I asked her to pass the word along to the "big shots" (ha ha...I think I used that word) in Washington, and to tell them John McCain is NOT a conservative, and many of us will not give $$ to a cause that elects him.
She thanked me for my time, reminded me her call was not sponsored by any candidate.
She said
Treat them with respect, but let them know to tell their bosses, in no uncertain terms, that they will face a hard time raising $$ from conservative donors with John McLame at the head of the ticket.
call girl, huh? you’re still recovering.
I had a call here in Missouri along the same lines. I said that I had already donated to the last Republican running; Fred Thompson. She said “thank you.”
if you had told me in 1998 that a whole bunch of freepers were supporting Hillary for President, I would have said you were crazy. But here we are.
Very good post. Your point about being polite to the callers is an excellent one. I hope all will abide by the tone that you’ve set with your response to this particular caller. Good job!
There was only the one Ronald Reagan and will never be another. Since no one on earth will ever possibly meet the requirements to be another Ronald Reagan, insisting on the existence of another Ronald Reagan on the ticket seems kind of like a primitive belief practice and not worth a vanity.
Reminds me a call I got from the NRA about a month ago, soliciting donations. I politely told the young lady that the NRA wouldn’t get another dime from me if they didn’t endorse Fred Thompson. Obviously moot now.
Not one Lincoln penny from me to the RNC....
I’ve already seen that McCain crazy face pic on the peso.
Look in the mirror for someone to blame. McCain is playing a game with rules and he’s following those rules and winning. Blame the voters. Blame the candidates who chose to run and those who didn’t.
Don’t forget that Ronald Reagan was a ex-Democrat. I’m afraid we may have turned the screw a little too tightly. (That’s not to say that we should blindly support the current crop of candidates—just that our “ideological purity” test may be a bit skewed).
In were simple terms, McCain draws ZERO support from me no vote, no money.... If we are going to get a leftist-liberal from hell then its hillarybeast, the candidate who will turn American upside-down...
Excellent response! Hopefully some of these young Conservatives making the calls will learn that being Conservative does not necessarily equate to being a Republican. At one time it did, but presently it appears not.
I asked her if any of this gets passed on. My gal wasn't even listening. They don't care.
How about a candidate who does not show such disdain for the little people.....like McCain does every time he takes away our free speech, gives away our country to illegal immigrants, supports embryonic stem cell research, votes against tax cuts......
Okay. Find that candidate, but he must also be conscious and electable.
I'm still searching.. I think this one is a good candidate =o)

Vote for me!!
Well said. And the irony escapes nearly everyone.
Somebody already has, on another thread! I’m off to find it!
Ping me when you find those. I got another RNC donation request in the mail this week and I’ll be sending those too.
Que ? Que ? No hablo engleesh . No Pesos por McLoco .
Accepting the current line-up of republican candidates is in fact supporting the agenda of the democrat party as well as Hillary. Unfortunately voting republican these days means voting democrat.
No, phone call girl is what he wrote. You need to recover.
They called, we chatted.
Yes, I’m Republican.
Would you like to donate?
Sorry, I’m broke, but we’ll vote R.
How about if we send you a letter next week? Can you donate then?
How about I send you a letter and you donate to me?!
She hung up!! LOL
Should have told her as soon as you get your job back from the Republican imported illegal you would give her a call.
When they call our house, they get told that never again will we give money to the party. We give only to candidates that meet our standards.
Yeah, it reminds me of the people at Alabama who still think Bear Bryant’s coming back. That being said, we can still learn from Reagan. Particularly the 11th Commandment.
Not a "whole bunch," just the morons that are pushing McSwine, the Hitlery clone.
So you are saying that McCain’s voting record and Hillary’s voting record are the same?
True. But must insist on a conservative candidate. One whose ideals aren’t based on current poll numbers or political expediency. That’s what liberals do. I think we can do much better, as we SAY we put principles before politics.
Conservatism first, party second. If the party abandons me, they are walking away from me - not the other way around.
I did check McCain’s record on one of the political tracking web sites. He has amassed a ton of “Not Voting” non-votes the last couple years. Doesn’t want to give anyone ammo for casting an unpopular vote, it appears.
The McCain Mutiny: Coming soon, God willing.
Nicely done, though I’d have probably added the addtional stipulation that Mel Martinez must be fired as well.
Great. Find one. Somebody both conscious and electable.
He probably missed alot of votes out campaigning. I do bet you though that his and Hillary’’s votes on immigration are the same.
If not the MSM will have a McCain lynching later.
He was probably in NYC yukking it up with Chrissy Matthews and his media pals.
“I did check McCains record on one of the political tracking web sites. He has amassed a ton of Not Voting non-votes the last couple years. Doesnt want to give anyone ammo for casting an unpopular vote, it appears.”
That and he’s been campaigning for the last 8 years. He spent enough time in DC to push amnesty, investigate drugs in baseball and the rest of the time he spent in N.H.
It’s not my fault that the RNC can’t field a conservative candidate. It also isn’t my responsibility, nor anyone else’s here. I regret Fred dropping out. But the one thing I do know, is that no way am I voting for McCain. He abandoned us (conservatives) a long, long time ago. We’re just one of the loose ends he is trying to tie up. And he’s lying to us to our very faces that HE’s the conservative candidate. He’s the Republican Hillary as far as I am concerned.
No, I wouldn't go that far, but I can say with confidence that their goals on a vast array of troubling issues are exactly the same.
1. "Global Warming"
2. Oil exploration and drilling for production.
3. Roe v Wade
4. Tax Cuts.
5. The right of citizens to be armed.
6. The importance of holding to our Christian Culture.
7. Illegal immigrants.
8. English only as our language of record and process.
9. Keeping our schools free of 'Gay Rights' pandering.
10. Federal involvement in education.
Great listing of points there. The thing I’d add is that if Hillary gets elected she will face a ton more republican opposition to getting her stuff through than McCain would. You can’t bash your own party without RINOs whining that we have to pull behind him. We can go after Hillary without such RINO/moderate and liberal republican appeasers. At least we’d be able to fight her with both hands instead of having one tied behind our backs if it’s our own guy putting forth a liberal agenda.
And if you don’t believe me look at how the RINOs were making excuses for Bush’s bad decisions on Myers, the border, illegal immigration and even this stupid ‘wealth redistribution’ scheme to ‘fix’ the economy.
So McCain has never voted pro-life or in favor of tax cuts?
Save the strawmen for the bonfire.
All active pro-life groups identify McCain as pro-choice.
Yes, that’s the pic.
I feel the same way you do.
But it occurs to me that, in fairness to the RNC and its fundraisers, it is the Republican voters out there who are elevating McCain to frontrunner status, not the party.
Terrible mistake.
