In 2006 I sent one of our colorado representives ( a democrat ) an email.
Stating that the first amendment appeared to be addresed to the congress of the united states, and was in fact a law that the law makers of the united states goverment had to live by. It was what I believed to be the letter of the law. because of the ( congress shall make no laws etc. ) and ask what he thought about it.
He wrote back and and told me that the first amendment was for the purpose of seperation of church and state and that he would continue to fight to that end, ( not the exact words but the exact meaning. )
So I wrote back to him saying that since the first amendent was addresed to congress it appeared to me that it was actually for the purpose of protecting states rights.
And I pointed out to him that the states ( which are goverend by the people of each state )and also the united states which are to be governend by the serveral states are controled by the other 9 amendments.
The 10th amendment I believe states that the people or respectivly the state shall make thier own laws where it is not prohibited by the other amendments, ( the people and the state being the same )
The first amendment doe`s not prohibit the states from doing anything, but prohibits congress from doing certain things.
The point is that that in a country governed by the people the majority has thier say, however they can not make laws that are prohibited by the bill of rights.
We as individuals are protected from the majority by the bill of rights
If the socialists can get every one, ( especially our representives ) to believe in the twisted view of the bill of rights then they will take over america.
What scares me is that I also tried to bring this to the attention of serveral conservative talk show hosts, no response, are they afraid of the first amendment too?
We are not going to stay free if the socialists have thier way.

I have sent many emails, faxes, and made phone calls to Ken Salazar’s office. Most were regarding Ken’s open-borders position. I do not know if I have influenced him in any way. I will keep contacting his office regarding my position on different issues, but I have to take it on faith that I can influence his policies. I suggest that you will have the same experience with your representative. You may not get the satisfaction of actually seeing the result of your contact, but you must continue to make your position known.
Since I am an american with God given rights protected by the bill of rights I just just throw my socks away according to how the notion strikes me and that depends on what the circumstances are. ( usually comon sense )

and I do not think facts has any influence on
