VANITY: Write-In Campaign for Texas?
2/7/2008 | Me

Posted on 02/07/2008 12:11:42 PM PST by D-fendr

With the sorry choices of McCain or McCain left, how about a write-in of Thompson in Texas? Is it allowed under Texas primary rules?

Beats not voting and beats supporting McCain.

Lordy, I'm disgusted with our choices in Texas. It's over before we even vote.

Thompson is supposedly coming out in support of McCain.

I wouldn’t bother.

Having moved from Virginia, this is my first time to vote in Texas. I have to vote my conscience and I cannot vote for McCain, so if they don’t let me write in, what’s the procedure in Texas?

Well, I suppose one alternative is to vote for RuPaul---I live in the Hill Country, and sure see a lot of his signs and bumper stickers around. At least he's right on the 2A.

Anyway you slice it, it isn't a good year for us.

Keep in mind that if you vote in the Texas primary, you are ineligible to put a 3rd party candidate on the ballot later.

If Fred comes out on support of McCain I will burn my FredHead hat, bumper stickers and other stuff.

I wouldn’t be surprised though back-stabbing is a way of life under the McCain administration.

I’m in the same boat. I was hoping that I could actually impact the primaries as this is my first presidential election that I am old enough to vote in. Sigh... don’t even bother we won’t have a brokered convention anyways.

I tried looking online for the Texas Primary. Isn’t Alan Keyes still in the race?

And is there an “uncommitted” option?

If I vote in the Dem primary I get to vote against Hillary at least once.

I do not care who his VP is unless he can guarantee me he will suffer a heart attack or something and step down on January 20, 2009.

Are you willing to sit there and not fight back. We should be yelling to get our choice and vote back.

They just threw us overboard and we are trying to decide on what whimpey candidate left to choose.

Heck we should turn this election on it’s ear and demand there will be no election until we get our choice and vote back.

A third party candidate won’t win this presidency if he isn’t in the race already.

I do recommend that after the 2008 election, all conservative Republicans find some conservative party to shift membership to and end this farce that is the GOP filled with RINO Democrats. Become a 3 (or 4) party nation.

In Fred's case, I would hope it is for Party unity at this point in time. He should have made his statement when he withdrew ... but then again I don't believe his heart was really in a run for President.

Hunter was my first choice and he is on the ballot. Romney was my second and he is on the ballot. Both pushed aside by the MSM in my mind, possibly out of fear of moving the country to a more conservative stance than it is right now. Romney some, Hunter more. Both in my mind better for the Party and the country than McCain.

A brokered convention is not going to happen. There is no one candidate to date with the ability to not only unite the Party but win against the Dems. Not any of the ones who have withdrawn. No other not running I can think of. No other capable of winning in November.

For the Primary I will have to go with Hunter or Romney. For the General I'll hold my nose and go with the GOP/McCain. I could not sit back and turnover the country to two socialists.

My hope is we have a strong VEEP ... for me Romney has show the best all round abilities, including attracting voters and balancing regions of the country.

I have accepted it. McCain cannot beat Obama and more than likely cannot beat her Heinous. All those great open primary voters will magically smile and mark a “D” on their ballot in November. we have been infiltrated and played for the fools we are. I have coined the phrase Trojan Horse for this great undermining campaign the Dims mounted.

Just talked with the Republican Party of Texas. According to the person I talked to:

The counties print the ballot, Thompson has filed in Texas, so there’s a good chance he will be on the ballot, depending on your county.

Second, write-ins are not allowed. The only other option than someone who is on the ballot is “Uncommitted”.

Yeah let’s wait. Not! You do that and you register a vote of approval for them to use in the next cycle and we are back a square one wondering what happened and you’ll say the same thing again, “go ahead and vote GOP and we’ll get them next time.” BS.

This sh_t cycle must end and the only way to end is make the hard choice and accept the pain that comes with it. Do not vote for McCain, a Dim or stay home. Either write-in or 3rd party so they can see your vote went elsewhere.

If the conservative Republicans (who I suggest need to abandon the party that has already left them) jump ship to a third party BEFORE election day, they will find themselves cut off from GOP fund (that they helped generate) AND face new puppet Republicans on the ballot.

Waiting for the election to jump ship makes sense.

Uncommitted is an option.

Here’s a list of those who filed in Texas:
Cort Hugh
Giuliani Rudy
Huckabee Mike
Hunter Duncan
Keyes Alan
McCain John
Paul Ron
Romney Mitt
Thompson Fred
Tran Hoa

I’m sitting on the fence between Keyes and GOOBAMA because I don’t know if Keyes is still in the race.

And it is tempting to vote against Hillary in 2008.

There will be time to vote for (or against) a candidate for the White House come November.

And none the public that I’ve seen (left or right) is happy with these 3 choices (all sitting Senators at a time when Congress’ approval numbers are below Bush’s).

A third party candidate could make a viable run (not). Where’s Jesse? Where’s Gary Coleman?

Voting Huck and for contested convention is the only possible way to avoid McCain as nominee now. Huck is very unlikely to do anything but take this to a contested convention . . . and that would be wonderful. Best to have a longshot than no-shot.
