LOL, love your description of The Road. It was extremely grim, but it held my attention.

Which are you going to buy, Elephants or Dogwood? No, I haven’t read “The Three Junes” but just looked it over on B&N and have added it to my wish list. Thanks for the recommendation. It’s hard to find quality fiction, and sometimes I want to read for entertainment, not something that is full of hidden meaning and requires a lot of analysis resulting in my headache.

Did you notice that someone put you in the Keywords for this thread?

Nice catch, Borges!

You have to admit, it's pretty clever stuff.

I’m going to buy Elephants. Actually found 3 Junes AND Elephants at our local thrift store yesterday but didn’t know anything about either so only bought 3 Junes.

Got home, looked up reviews of 3 J’s on Amazon and they recommended Elephant. So now I have to get BACK to thrift store and hope it’s still there for ONE DOLLAR!

The reason I bought the 3 J’s was Richard Russo gave a wonderful review on the back of the book and he’s one of my favorite writers.

My.....that was wordy, wasn’t it?? :)

CULT OF THE AMATEUR. A little emotional, but explains well how the Internet has ravaged our culture.

Yes, Every one since I discovered them. I laugh till I cry at Grandma Mazur(sp?).

I found ONE recently and have to look for the next few that I missed.

I think you will love Water For Elephants. I resisted reading it for a year because I didn’t think I’d like a circus book but my brother kept insisting I read it. Glad I did. Feel free to Freepmail me after you read it because I’d love to hear what you think.

Actually I guess I meant I can’t wait for paperbacks.

I buy them and then take them all to Walter Reed for the troops library at Mologne House. I read Griffin and Grisham and they like those too.

Last month I read what must have been Wm. Buckley's last fiction book, The Rake. I was disappointed when he killed off Blackford Oakes but this was a good read.
I read the newest Daniel Silva book, The Silent Servant and then went back and read all the previous books.
And I have read the entire Sue Grafton and Janet Evanovich series'.

Clever indeed. Appending a derisive term to someone’s name is pure Middle School. I know that’s when I went through my Lysander Spooner phase.

I'm only up to "F", although I listened to random books on tape in the car years ago. They're a summer read for me.

do you like it? From what I understand Koontz knows his politics and is clearly a conservative. I have never read him before, but I hear that his novels are usually about the fight between good and evil... and this one is for dog lovers too.

I read history; almost to the exclusion of all else.

The last two I read:

“Day of Battle” by Rick Atkinson. Second in his liberation triology, it covers the American war Italy from Sicily to the capture of Rome. Very good, very balanced.

“Because they Hate” by Brigitte Gabriel. More of a current events book than history, it is a personal story of a Christian survivor of the Lebanese Civil War. More intended as a primer on the real purpose of Islam, which is military jihad and subjugation of the world.
