This woman found a lion hurt and about to die. She took him home and took care of him. When the lion was better she called the local zoo. This was the reaction she got when the lion saw her at the zoo.

You’re right. I smiled.

Question: Do you have video on where she tried this again, and the lion ate her head?

Just wondering?

Thanks! So heartwarming = except I can't help but think the poor lion was hoping she had come back to get him and take him out of his cage...

That doesn’t look very safe, but the big putty tat seems pretty affectionate.

I know! That’s what I thought too when I saw it...he wants to go home with her. Ok, maybe I should have said ‘it will make you smile...then you’ll be sad.’

Cute, but there is only one problem:

We don’t have “native” African lions in the Americas. Other types of wild cats? yes. But not African lions.

I looked up more information about this story. Apparently, she rescue the lion from a traveling circus that had abused it. This is from the Orlando Sentinel:

Just got a phone call from Vermont from a reader who wanted to donate money to Ana Julia Torres, the woman whose love affair with a lion is capturing the imagination of animal lovers around the world. The video (below) of Torres and Jupiter is heart warming. Torres runs the Villa Lorena animal shelter in Cali, Columbia, where she fed and nursed Jupiter the African lion back to health years ago after it was found abused and emaciated in a traveling circus. Unfortunately, I do not have an address for the shelter where donations could be sent. "It is amazing to see an animal like that be so sweet and affectionate," said Torres. "This hug is the most sincere one that I have received in my life." Torres, 47, said her work rehabilitating animals began more than a decade ago when a friend gave her an owl that had been kept as a pet. Later, when she asked her students to bring their pets to school, she realized many families illegally kept wild fauna from Colombia's biologically diverse jungles in their homes. The number of animals under her care grew, and now Jupiter is among 800 recovering creatures at Villa Lorena, where Torres looks after, among others, burned peacocks, limbless flamengos, blind monkeys and mutilated elephants. Most of the animals are caged, though some, like iguanas, roam freely around the grounds of the shelter, which are enclosed by a 13-foot wall. Torres said she relies on donations and her modest teacher's salary to run the shelter. "We dedicate our lives to the care of these animals without one single peso from the state," Torres said.

Similar (Sort of)to a story out of Fort Worth, Texas this week where as a lady found a shivering dog on her front porch after that that snow we had last week.

She sat next to and talked to it to be comforting and called Animal Control to pick it up.

Animal Control comes by and..."Lady, that's not a dog. That's a sick coyote."
