Ease Up on B.Obama
self

Posted on 03/16/2008 4:08:49 PM PDT by enough_idiocy

Everyone is pilling on Obama right now. I'm afraid of two things: blowing the utility of the dirt too soon before the election and getting stuck with Hillary instead.

Obama is the easier one for McCain to beat. I don't care what polls say right now. He'll be much easier when it's a one on one show. Hillary would be much tougher to defeat than Obama.

Also, getting all this J.Wright stuff out there now may make the media and public numb to it before election day when it is more important.

I don't know how to get this put on the back burner, but I hope the powers that be ease up on BO until after he wins the nomination and it's a little closer to the election.

I have thought of the same thing, but you never let political opportunity pass. While he is trying to dig himself out of this hole you find another one to cause him to fall into. As General George S. Patton said:

“Attack, attack, attack, quickly, decisively, shoot and keep on shooting”

The Hillary-is-easier people keep pointing to her negative approval ratings, but negative approval ratings for Hillary don’t translate into positive votes for McCain. Anyway I think this thing is out of our control (i.e. under Hillary’s control).

Rush was wrong. He was wrong on this and he’s been wrong on a lot of things. Hillary had a knife against her jugular and it was pulled back by “well meaning” people following Rush’s suggestions. November will not be pretty no matter which side of the aisle you sit on.

The thing about Obama is that he doesn’t have the Clinton machine behind him. That makes him inherently easier to beat.

I was wrong too. I voted for Obama in Virginia, so now when Hillary takes the nomination she will have a great comeback story. It all started a year or two ago when Hillary backers sat around and figured out who would be the best patsy opposition for her. Someone up and coming who could catch fire, but might have a skeleton or two or three waiting in the closet.

And Obama does not have Hillary's FBI files. While Obama will be easier to beat, it is a nightmare that all three are the worst possible candidates. None of them love this country.

Hillary and McCain are in the pockets of special interests and are corrupt. Obama should never have won a Senate seat. Much of this about Obama, I knew last year. Why now? Because he is beating Hillary?

Just wait until it is Hillary against McCain and the media will spread rumors about the Manchurian Candidate, his and Cindy's health, and lots more.

My father makes the argument that if you have to pick between Hillary and Obama, pick Hillary because she’s in the pockets of the special interests while Obama is in the pockets of those set out to destroy Western civilization.

My counterpoint is that “big ears” will be an order of magnitude easier to beat in the general. I’ve been thinking about two other points too. Obama will generally tend to lose white, male independents which are more likely to vote for McCain instead, while Hillary may lose many blacks (especially after beating/exposing Obama) but those voters will probably just stay home instead of voting for McCain.

Secondly, Rush may have attempted to construct this situation to boost his own popularity. He’s bound to attract many more listeners during a Clinton presidency than during a McCain one.

I agree with what you’re saying, but it’s a moot point. There is nothing that FReepers are going to be able to do or say to dampen the media frenzy at this point simply because we’re not the ones instigating it.

I mean, come on folks, this story has been out there for months now. Why all the sudden interest?

I’ve actually lost count of the number of stories about Wright that have popped up all the sudden. Too much, too fast, too widely spread to be coincidence.

It’s pretty obvious to me that Hillary and Bill are calling in a few media markers right now. This has their MO stamped all over it.

As you said: As General George S. Patton said: “Attack, attack, attack, quickly, decisively, shoot and keep on shooting”

I am with you. If we go easy on Obama now and he will be the Dem nominee, it will be hard to go back to this, and if we did, it would look political. We need to have the light of truth shine on Obama.

And the way this election is going, it's very hard to get the answer from a Crystal Ball to find out which Dem would be easier to beat. Obama’s hypocrisy reflects badly on the entire Democrat party.

He is a Trojan Horse — pretending to be a moderate and non-racist, when in fact he is an America-hater, wanting to destroy our country and way of life from within.

In my perspective, Obama and Clinton are political clones of each other in significant respects. In fact, I can substitute Clinton’s name for Obama’s in my anti-Obama posts concerning constitutionally unauthorized federal spending and homosexuality and repost them without compromising accuracy.

The itty bitty attack the New York Slimes put on John Insane (which he could only mouth was disappointing) was but a foretaste of the gorry future. The media will define McLaim in short order, leaving the public to see only an old man with a cancer history and an anti-Republican bent who favors amnesty and the ‘otherside of the isle’. The Keating Five will not even be needed to sink Johnny’s little boat. I fear for my nation!

I disagree with the premise. It has been very difficlt to get the MSM to report negative stories on BHO. For whatever reason, the SNL skit maybe, this has become acceptable now. But it may again become “not the thing to do”. So this window of opportunity should be taken advantage of.

The idea that we have any say about if and when this information comes out is pure fantasy. Some of this stuff was posted on this site early last year and it went NO WHERE. Hannity has been on this for months and it went NO WHERE. McCain and the GOP would not go near it with a 10 foot pole. The ONLY reason that it is coming out is that Hillary's people are pushing it. It either comes out now, or not at all.

It is possible that Obama is the easier candidate to beat NOW that this is out (along with other questionable stuff). Prior to this he appeared untouchable and even people not afraid of going after him realized that they would face a barrage of racist charges when they did. As it now stands, his halo has been tarnished and Bill and Hillary, along with much of the Dem establishment machinery are the ones facing the racist charges. Because of Obama's lead and proportional representation, it is highly unlikely that Hillary will catch him prior to the convention. That means she has to convince the super delegates to go against the majority of Democratic voters and coronate Hillary despite the wishes of the rank and file. This is a perfect recipe for a nuclear detonation in Denver that will be felt LONG after November.

In the meantime, despite the apparent destruction of Obama, he just picked up some of the delegates from Iowa that were pledged to Edwards and thus further increased his lead over Hillary. He is FAR from dead, so you will just have to excuse me if I am not so attentive to a call for laying off Obama.

Hillary’s pulling out the big guns now, as everyone has been expecting. As damaging as this might be to Obama, it may not even be the grand finale.

You can’t stop it, best thing to do now is sit back and enjoy the show as this all plays out.

I totally agree with you. Rush made a mistake. We want Obama to be the nominee. Not only do we get rid of the Clintons, he would be easier to beat.

I believe Clinton could take Ohio in the GE. She made a lot of impact with her rhetoric on “getting things done on the economy”. McCain is weak in that area and Ohio is undergoing a tremendous slowdown. Hillary would run strong with the working class. I don’t think they would go for Obama. Look at how poorly he did in the Ohio exit polls.

It boils down to Ohio, Ohio Ohio. Clinton could win it with Stricklands help. McCain would trounce Obama.
