Last week was one of the worst American Idols, ever. I hope they do alot better this week. It seems though that this so-called greatest group of talent ever on American Idol likes to do great one week and then with complacency at their side do horrible the next week.

I think doing Beatles two weeks in a row was tough.
Those songs are difficult to do covers.
Hopefully they will do Motown stuff soon :-)

*Sigh* No quotes from me memorable enough to put on the ping? I’ll have to start getting my “clever” on.

I love Motown music. Did you hear that Mariah Carey will be a “mentor” in upcoming weeks? How in the heck are they going to do that? They always say to stay away from Mariah songs cuz she’s so good that no one can do them as well in comparison. I predict a disaster for that week.

Hi Jonny. Thanks for the new thread. A snippet of lyrics from the Black Crowes' "Movin' On Down The Line" seems appropriate as the competition gets down and serious. (Michael Johns, are you listening?)
Its all right sisters
Its all right brother
We all get down sometimes
Starting to show me
Starting to know me
Starting to feel the shine
Starting to let go
Now that we know
Time to move it on down the line

That is great! Thank you. I sure hope that American Idol is better this week. I like many here felt for the first time ever watching American Idol, I could not wait for it to end. The Beatles are not a good group to sing by single singers IMHO. Yes Jason Castro did a great song with Hallelujah, but that is about it. The rest were pretty awful.
To: napscoordinator
I agree....I was bored with the beatles too....hope tonight is better.....congratulations again for being the ‘1/2’ poster of all American Idol threads!

Has Apple got their money’s worth yet for their purchase of the Beatle song book on I-POD or is this Beatles week 3?

I think Mariah can coach, but they can have a broader theme for song selection.

David Archuleta: Top 100 hits of 1990 There are 3 Phil Collins songs, a Chicago (Peter Etcetera) song, a George Michael song and a Michael Bolton song. My $$$ is on those...
Although tackling Skid Row's I Remember You would be sweet. He couldn't pull it off though...

Ok, lets see how well these guys can pick songs this week. I don’t understand why, after seven seasons, these people don’t get that song choice can make or break you in this competition. With that said, here’s what I think they should do....
Brooke White (1983) - Sweet Dreams (Eurythmics) or Stranger at My Door (Juice Newton)
David Archuleta (1990) - We Didn’t Start The Fire (Billy Joel)...knowing him and his “messages”...
Carly Smithson (1983) - I Know There’s Something Goin On (Frida) or Back On The Chain Gang (Pretenders)
David Cook (1982) - Eye of the Tiger (Survivor) or Rosana (Toto)
Ramiele Malubay (1987) - Heart And Soul (T’pau)
Chikezie (1985) - Lover Boy (Billy Ocean)
Syesha Mercado (1987) - Looking For A New Love (Jody Watley)
Jason Castro (1987) - At This Moment (Billy Vera and The Beaters)
Kristy Lee Cook (1984) - Let’s Hear It For The Boy (Deniece Williams) or Self Control (Laura Branigan)
Michael Johns (1978) - Lay Down Sally (Eric Clapton)
Like, oh my gawd...the 80’s just rock...there are like so many songs to choose from, it’s so hard to limit to just one....fer sure...
Like, can you tell Im’ from the 80’s? I’m so sure...

Brooke White (1983) - Sweet Dreams (Eurythmics) or Stranger at My Door (Juice Newton) Also consider Total Eclipse Of The Heart (Bonnie Tyler)
David Archuleta (1990) - We Didnt Start The Fire (Billy Joel)
What Kind Of Man Would I Be? (Chicago)
David Cook (1982) - Eye of the Tiger (Survivor) or Rosana (Toto)
867-5309 [Jenny] (Tommy Tutone)
Ramiele Malubay (1987) - Heart And Soul (Tpau)
[I've Had] The Time Of My Life (Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes)
Kristy Lee Cook (1984) - Lets Hear It For The Boy (Deniece Williams) or Self Control (Laura Branigan)
Against All Odds [Take A Look At Me Now] (Phil Collins) or Time After Time (Cyndi Lauper) -- Islands In The Stream (Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton) is a trap song

No doubt...I think the only other contestant that sucked as bad as Penn does, was when they had Master P on...I mean, come on...they need to pick people who can actually dance and don’t look like big oofs out there, stomping around stage. At least Penn is trying...
And by the way...I think the judges are pretty lame. They give Penn this awesome review, but totally bag others that danced really well, imo. I hate it when they “pimp” certain people.

At least Penn is trying... That's my litmus test too. Remember Tucker Carlson was another who didn't try, spent zero time practicing. The reps of the pro's are on the line and I hate when they get bums who don't give a crap.
Kristi on the other hand is the best celeb I've seen ever.
She deserved 10's last night, she looks prettier than I've ever seen her and for a mom of two.

Michael Johns (1978) - Lay Down Sally (Eric Clapton)Michael's voice and singing style are very reminicent of Clapton's, so 'Lay Down Sally' might be a good choice for him. I could also see him doing a good job on Rod Stewart's 'You're In My Heart' (a favorite of mine). But I'd like to see Michael do Lynyrd Skynyrd's 'What's Your Name' to rock it up a bit. He's had a string of dull performances and needs to bring some life to the party.
