God, these people are revolting. I only post this for future reference.

Sorry for posting it to such an important forum as chat, but I couldn't find one infinitely more insignificant.

I’m sorry... Would you correct the spelling in the title? I don’t know how the letter ‘a’ got appended to ‘Scientologists.’ Thanks.

Will Smith? He seems too smart to fall for that. I wonder if that’s accurate.

And Catherine Bell? Ouch. That one hurts.

Beauty and brains don’t always go together. And Sonny Bono? That was a shocker.

I have heard of 21 of these people. And one of them is dead (Sonny Bono).

Of the people on the list, I actually like only 1 of them. And he is dead (Sonny Bono).

He's one I've never heard of. There are several others, too.

It's a damn shame about Catherine Bell and Jenna Elfman.

These people never fit in, so they think they are part of a intergalactic cult. Incredible.
As to van Sustren, she is married to a leader in the cult, also an attorney.

I'm not sure why I'm supposed to care what superstition an actress or actor follows.

Am I supposed to not buy their music or watch their movies because their beliefs are different than mine?

I’m very skeptical about the validity of this list.
Sonny Bono may have had some Scientology connections but was buried with a Catholic funeral Mass.

I’m begining to think alot of the people (like Smith) only buy “the next chapter” as it were.

It seems if they have they money, they will buy it and a Scientology board will rank them among “theres”.

Just saying, seems like something I would do. Scientology seems quite entertaining and if I had money to burn, I might get “in” on it. Just keep quiet about it if someone asks if that is the way I feel.

Tom Cruise fell for it. Will Smith I’m less convinced.

Some corrections;

Bodhi Elfman is not Danny’s son. He’s Danny’s nephew. And the bigger celebrity in that house isn’t Bodhi, it’s his wife Jenna Elfman (also a Scientologist).

Will Smith has repeatedly said he’s not Scientologist. He is, however, a homeschool dad.

Sharon Case is someone they left off the list. She’s on Young & the Restless with Michelle Stafford.

Also, from what Wiki says, Edgar Winter is a cultist. That’s sad.

I know of about 3 of these people... I really liked Corin Nemec on SG-1, HATED Tom Cruise for War of the Worlds (the last decent thing he did was Minority report), and have only seen Will Smith in Men in Black, but I liked him there.

Looking at that list, I think I need to expand my movie genre tastes beyond ‘science fiction’... maybe include ‘fantasy’ or ‘action’ as well?

Do as you wish.

Personally, I don’t see them simply as dumb, superstitious actors who are causing no harm to anyone but themselves, but as con men (and women) colluding in a massive financial fraud.

Thanks for the info - I had no idea that Will Smith was a Scientology whackjob.

I saw a recent story that said Tom Cruz was really twisting Will Smith's arm to get him to join but he hadn't decided yet. It may be wishful thinking.

Apparently he is not. This is an interview with US magazine:

Will Smith may have studied Scientology with pal Tom Cruise, but he says his faith rests in his own spirituality. "I don't necessarily believe in organized religion," Smith, 39, said when asked about Scientology Friday at a junket for his upcoming film I Am Legend. "I love my God, my higher power, but it is mine and mine alone, and I create my connection, and I decide how my connection is going to be," he added. Describing himself as a "student of world religions," Smith — who was raised a Baptist — said: "I believe that my connection to my higher power is separate from everybody's. "I don’t believe that the Muslims have all the answers and all the beliefs. I don’t believe the Christians have all the answers and beliefs, or that the Jews have all the answers."

Will gave out gift certificates for auditing as wrap party gifts for his most recently completed film. I’d say that doesn’t bode well for the idea he hasn’t bought in.

On a related note, what kind of “church” has gift certificates?
