Very interesting thread. I remember reading this the first time and hoping none of it was true.

I actually picked up my Remington 12 guage yesterday. I don’t really enjoy shooting guns and I had to do a lot of reflecting on purchasing a “protection” firearm and what it would mean to me and my future if I ever found myself actually needing it.

Bottom line was that just as my intellect (but not my emotional self) said two years ago that we would be in a GD or worse, my intellect says there is a strong possibility I will need this weapon in the next few months.

So I forked over the cash and made the resolution to use it if necessary. Bottom line, of course, is that I would rather have it and not need it rather than the other way around.

But yeah, we already have gone much farther toward the scary possibilities than most of us REALLY thought we would. It is actually happening before our eyes. It is kinda numbing...

I wonder why I had it stuck in my head that the Dept of Agriculture fell under Homeland Security?

Possibly because the Agricultural Inspectors, who used to belong to USDA, now belong to Customs & Border Protection, part of DHS. These are the guys inspecting food shipments coming into the country. They were 'merged' with the other inspectors - legacy Customs and legacy Immigration, into CBP.
