I lurked since the start. I don’t remember anything. I was working 72 hour weeks back then, and didn’t even sign up, but it was a great read with coffee. Where did all the great oldies go? I enjoyed the scuffups.
The very special posters I missed the most are BKO and harpseal.
FR is a borg-like self-correcting collective. We have trolls, distractors, agents-provacateur, useful idiots, common folk, reasoned thinkers, outright geniuses, saints, and everything in between. It’s been a great ride.
I was an early subscriber(1988) to *Prodigy and the Current Events board, I was riveted.
*Prodigy went down the tubes when the web became popular, I was intimidated by HTML and never posted though signed on, in 1999 Jim had a purge and I got drunk and forgot my password, lost seniority.
Still if you pick the right threads and ignore the trash there is still a lot of good political talk, BKO, I remember BCM, I remember, Free and a couple of commies I remember, Torrie, a favorite, I remember. Over time it tends to blurr.
Yep. I got a free lifetime membership through my daughter's work. LOL. Hell Bill, we keep reminiscing like this, we're both gonna end up in porch swings :o)
Damn just bought on like the one I saw at the Edison place in Fort Myers. When my Granddad lived in Sugar House in the early '50's he had one, I had forgotten how cool they are.
