No, this is NOT a picture of me. While I enjoy the same style, I don’t do prints. LOL. :-) Nanny-state PING, please, for my fellow Ohio nanny-staters.

Ohio Ping!
Las Vegas Dave, I think it is very telling why you chose your screen name and are from Ohio. :-) Hope all is well.
Good evening, Las Vegas Dave! I can’t wait until hubby and I go to Vegas next month. Hubby will actually be ALLOWED to enjoy a cigar with his adult beverage with other like-minded adults. Since November 2006, hubby and I have been to Vegas 5 times — this coming May will make 6, and this coming July will make 7. Gee, I wonder why. Maybe because in this state there is not ONE SIGNLE PLACE where adults can be adults. Let’s defeat the NANNY STATERS this time. Enough of telling us how we should live our lives. We are adults, and the vast majority of us are responsible.
It is an IMPRESSIVE plan, and one that truly does make sense. While I will probably never (shouldn’t say never) go there (being from Cleveland, and with Erie, Pennsylvania being closer), I will still vote for it. I see way too much tax dollars going out of the state of Ohio.
let me get this straight...is this an Indian casino?.....
I just imagined that he must be some hot shot retired Jewish Doctor from NYC or maybe a lawyer....some big wig anyway....
what he did?.....he was a union worker at GE , retired..his wife retired from the state..no children of course....
LOL. I don’t mean to brag. I’m not a high-roller, just an ordinary person. I posted what I posted to make a point — the nanny state has to end. You have to allow places where adults can be adults. The vast majority of adults are responsible. That’s all. We should stop trying to tell each other what we can and cannot do (within reason, of course). :-)
No, this is not an Indian run Casino. Two individual investors are behind this current proposal. One was behind the last issue that failed.
I’ll add an incentive. If the naysayers are worried about staffing the place, that is easily solved. Turn some of the entitlement takers into employees. And the best part is, the Casino doesn’t have to pay them, because WE already do. And they get health insurance to boot.
Imagine how much staxs in our pockets then.
I voted against Issue 3 because they had NO PLAN. I wanted to know exactly what I was voting for, which only makes sense.
That’s not how I pictured you at all.
But this casino does not fit my agenda of justice....
I’ve said it a million times. Progressive liberal states need to become poor and beg the Native American casino owners and cultivators of the tobacco crop for money in 10 years.
That will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is a God.
Very pro gambling in Ohio here. Tired of the long drives to send my money to another state.
Shyla! So very nice to see you, again. Hope all is well. :-)
Doing well....remodeling the house..pain in the butt though it will be well worth it.
Nice to see you also!!!!
My friend STILL talks about the Landerhaven event!!!!!
While I’m not a gambler myself, I have no problem with building a casino in Ohio. Let’s keep Ohio dollars in Ohio for once. God knows we’re losing enough dollars to out-of-state casinos. I also voted against the smoking ban, even though I’m a non-smoker. I’m sick of the nanny-staters trying to legislate morality.
Libetarian PING to fight the Ohio nanny-staters.
Libertarian ping! To be added or removed freepmail me or post a message here.
You could have just invested in SkyBus.
Very conservative Ohio Republican and ANTI-gambling. I intend to fight this. You folks need to take a closer look at the mess in Lawrenceburg Indiana. Crime is up. Traffic is awful and roads cannot handle it. And the taxpayers have to pay for the road improvments. Taxes are UP. Gambling like this is nothing more than a poor tax. A few benefit while the rest spend their rent, food and gas money. Gambling is available for those who want it within just a couple of hours drive. There is plenty of gambling in Indiana, and Pennsylvania. We don’t want it here.
Well I actully live in Ohio all year long and will have to put up with the problems that this casino will cause. If you don’t live in Ohio all the time, you should not be a part of this discussion. I’m wondering what kind of personal gain will you get if this casino is built. Are you a part time Gambling industry employee who has been tasked with promoting this casino?
I live in GEAUGA COUNTY. Every single county (all 88) in Ohio will receive revenue (proportionate to population). FYI ... I am in no way associated with the developers of this project (which is very impressive, by the way). I’m an Ohio citizen just like you. :-)
I never said there was.
Read my comment again. I referred to a Columbus-based company, SkyBus, that just went under, illustrating that investment is also gambling.
As you stated - You have “a part time job with this type of entertainment” - So that tells me that you are looking out for yourself here and not necessarily the state. Are you employed by or connected with this casino in any way? I have a feeling that you are or that you hope to be employed there. Not exactly an unbiased opinion.
Actually I think the gambling in Pennsylvania might be closer for you. There is only so much gambling money out there. If Ohio gets casinos, then the gambling money is divided up amoung even more states. Ohio will not get as much as the surrounding states are getting right now - because they will just be keeping their own gamblers and not attracting gamblers from other states because they already have their own casinos. It is just not worth it when one considers the real “cost” of having a casino in the state.
Anyone who thinks that casino profit is really going to help the state probably thinks the Ohio Lottery goes to pay for education and keeps our taxes low.... No - I’ll fight this. No good reason for a casino in Ohio.
You said - “If we don’t act now it will be too late” - That is why those of us who do NOT want more gambling in Ohio are fighting this from the beginning.
Ask yourself - who is paying for this extremely expensive PR campaign? Websites like that don’t grow on trees. Who is paying for all those expensive advertisements on the Television and Radio? Hmmmm? I’ll tell you who - the organization or business that will be getting the most money from this casino...and its not the taxpayers of the State of Ohio. Some government officials already know who because they got large campaign donations from the group or person. I don’t know who it is, but I know the best interests of the state are not the goal. Wake up, Lady.
I am indeed very awake, thank you. I’m awake enough to see many, many, many of my fellow Ohioans going out of our state and adding to the economies of other states instead of our own. I see it continually. I predict this will pass by a handy margin. Ohio is tired of being a “nanny state” where adults can’t do this and can’t do that as a result of being dictated to by some in our state. If you don’t want to go to a casino, that’s just fine. As far as the PR campaign for this project, it’s no different than any other type of business enterprise. Tell me, what information did you obtain by visiting the site for this project?
Last time I checked the so called “nanny state” line - no one has shut the borders - Ohioans are free to go to other states to gamble. And you, yourself, already said that Erie was very convenient for you. So what’s the issue? You can gamble all you want! TaDa Why force casinos on a state that has repeatly rejected it? I work in the information business and I know that this particular PR campaign is VERY - extremely - expensive. You have been so brainwashed by it. This is NOT a normal business enterprise. No - there is BIG - HUGE- money hoping to take BIG money out of the pockets of Ohioans. I’ve looked at your brainwashing site and I’ve also looked at a few other anti-casino sites run by citizens who cannot afford the expensive ads, website, and TV spots the casino business can. You might try getting a balanced view of this issue.
Care to join me in Vegas next month and in July where you will see a lot of your fellow Ohioans (including Freepers)? Ohio IS a nanny-state, and the majority of Ohio citizens think so. I am able to see both sides of this issue and have not been brainwashed. Just because you don’t agree with me is no reason for you to say something about me that you don’t even know is true or not. Ohio needs to capture some of this money, and keep Ohioans entertained in our own state. This issue will pass. Ohioans are tired of seeing all of their money go to other states. It’s just that simple.
You don’t even know the definition of “nanny state,” do you?
Your “holier than thou” attitude makes this discussion a joke and a waste of time. Go gamble away your life savings “for entertainment”. Its a free country and gambling casinos are only a short drive from your house. Go have your own personal kind of fun. No one wants to stop you.
Luckily, most Ohioans are too smart to believe the self-serving propaganda and twisted logic found on that casino site. Any economics student can pick the pro-casino website apart on false economic logic. Someone is going to make lots of money and its not the state of OHio.
We will be fighting this casino and fighting the rich people/organization who want to get richer off the hard earned money of Ohioans. If you think the Ohio Lottery was designed to support education - I’ve got a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. This casino will be no different.
I don’t think that I have the attitude that you have said that I have. All I’ve done it state factual reasons why it’s time for Ohio to have a casino: (1) too much money is being lost to other states; (2) gambling is entertainment and the vast majority of people view it in that fashion; (3) revenue will be given to all 88 Ohio counties; and (4) Ohio is a nanny-state where people force their views on others, and it’s time for it to stop.
Let me assure you that the anti-gambling sites’ arguments are not showing both sides and are self-serving. Like I’ve said, the majority of adults who gamble view it as entertainment and do it responsibly (just as they do with drinking, driving, etc.).
Like I’ve also said REPEATEDLY, I have a part-time job for this type of entertainment, and I do it responsibly. For you to post that I gamble away my life savings suggests to me that you are not listening and your mind is closed. You might want to state some facts like I have.
Lastly, with your verbiage regarding “big gambling” and “rich people who want to get richer off hard earned money,” you sound like a dem. Oh, also, the only time I buy Ohio Lottery tickets is when the jackpot is double-digit-millions, and then I only spend $10. At least from the casinos, more times than not, I am entertained, win enough to keep playing, and get free beverages, rooms and meals. From the State of Ohio when I play the lottery, I get nothing.
I believe this issue will be on the ballot and will pass, because the majority of Ohioans think it is time.
By the way, who is “WE?”
