I was watching the local Fox news affiliate tonight and noticed that when they were showing video of the Pope visiting the synagogue in New York City, that they pixelated the crucifix that he wears. Did anyone else see this? Does Fox have a policy of blurring out religious symbols?
FOX doesn’t do that. Both O’Reilly and Hannity are Catholic. Both would speak up and out about that.
Maybe it was your tv. I’m not being flip, but a possible explanation.
I did not see it, but I would not put it past Fox to be politically-correct spineless wimps.
Looked fine to me on my 10 year old CRT.
I had it on at work so I didn’t really look at it well, just kind of glanced at it. I didn’t notice it blurred but can’t say one way or the other.
It was definitley pixelated only around the cross and not on any other part of the screen. You could see it was a cross, but the image of Christ at the center was blurred. I was watching on an HDTV digital station on a 55” screen. It may have been pixelated by the local affiliate, but I find that hard to believe. I was hoping someone could confirm what I saw.
I went to their website and watched some of the video. It did not appear there was any blurring, but it was very shinny and did reflect a lot of light. The excess light may have looked like a blur on your TV.
It was very subtle but noticed it was a blurring in the same spot as last night when Hannity had on Dr. Laura. Last night I thought it was to vaseline the lens so that Dr. Laura looked not too wrinkly. Think it was a technical glitch since it appeared at the same spot today.
Why would they bother? Its not like the non-protestant world doesnt equate the Pope with Christianity. If they wanted to obscure any images, wouldnt they just pixelate the Pope? ;-)
All those tv's look pixelated to me.
Could be weird reflections. I wish I could see it again. Maybe it will be shown again later tonight. I went to the Fox website but couldn’t find the video I was looking for. Pope Benedict had just received the gift of the Passover plate and was beginning to speak at the podium. This was the Fox news feed over the local affiliate and not the Fox network.
That’s what you get for buying the “Prince of Darkness” model from the House of Satan and Appliances.
Fast movement and excessive glare will cause pixellation on many lcd tv’s, especially on standard def. I dont think it was Fox or some grand conspiracy.
If it was bright (see above), the compression chip used by your TV might have resulted in a pixeliAtion effect.
Great point the pixelaters (sp) would be extremely busy pixelating (sp). ;-)
They just rebroadcast it on the 24 hour news channel and the body of Christ on the crucifix and part of the surrounding blue trim on his robe was pixelated in an oval smudge. No reflections from the clear podium or the Pope’s glasses or the Passover plate were pixelated. They showed his speech at the UN earlier in the same clip and the crucifix was not pixelated. Very curious. I think it was intentional blurring and done at the Fox Network.
Check out Hannity’s show on now, Fox. Looks like Dr. Laura is doing another round of answering questions and see if they still have the vaseline on lens look. I will watch also.
No way Fox---Cnn maybe, but not Fox
Could be a tech issue.
I’ve see two Papal masses over the last couple of days, funny that I saw all matter of crosses and other religious paraphernalia and none were blurred out. Fix your TV set.
What's up with that?
