Write a Comment COPIAGUE, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island man who flipped his finger at a police cruiser and then popped a wheelie on his motorcycle is recovering from injuries after crashing.

Suffolk County Police said Frank Patti, 26, of West Islip, rode by the police car at a service station in Copiague at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Police say Patti made an obscene gesture to two officers in the car, popped a wheelie and then sped away.

Police gave chase.

When the motorcycle turned into a parking lot it crashed into a police car that had joined the chase.

Police said Patti was treated for minor injuries at Southside Hospital. He's charged with fleeing police, resisting arrest and several traffic violations.

Jerk motorcyclist tried to kick my rearview mirror off when I told him to slow down because he was driving like a maniac. He kicked it and it bounced right back undamaged and the look on his face when it bounced back was hilarious. Then he took off like a bat out of hell and I was half hoping somebody would clip him when he ran the red light.

Not too long ago I was cruising home at the end of the day when this young “man” in a little car zips in and out of traffic running up way too close behind folks, cutting back in too close in front, and so forth. My “Mama Car” has a V-8 and could have more than given him a run for his money but that’s just an occasional brief fantasy.

A few miles down the road, there are the blue lights and there’s the little car with the little driver, baggy pants and all, waiting for the gentleman from DPS to get out of his car.

I smiled the rest of the way home.

After throwing in the 258 cams in my Softail Custom, I've accidentally pulled two wheelies. My neighbor does it all the time on his Super Glide. I've even seen pictures of guys doing wheelies with full dressers and even a Honda Goldwing. Not that hard.
