Another of the summer's most closely-guarded secrets, this animated extravaganza is meant to kick off the new Cartoon Network series of the same title. It's said to be focused on Anakin Skywalker, fresh from his victory in Attack of the Clones and not yet following the path of the Dark Side. At his side is his determined female padawan Ahsoka, as well as the incomparable Obi-Wan. Together they become entangled in a plot in which the kidnapping of Jabba the Hutt's son is used to set the Hutt clan against the Jedi Knights.

Three Good Reasons

1Two words: Jedi woman! It'll be fun to see what happens when the Force meets good old fashioned grrrrl power for the first time in the franchise. 2Star Wars has always had the best eye candy, and making it 100% digital opens up limitless visual possibilities. 3There's a chance we may gain some insight as to how a giant, burbling pile of lard like Jabba could conceivably reproduce.

Bet You Didn't Know

With this new version coming to theaters, more actors have played the character of Anakin Skywalker than have been James Bond. Counting everyone in and out of Darth Vader's suit, seven actors have played the part, ranging in age from 9 (Jake Lloyd in The Phantom Menace) to 78 (Sebastian Shaw in Return of the Jedi).

Yes, I am really looking forward to a small girl character who will be able to save Anakin and other large men who can’t save themselves, and lecture the dumb older male characters about morality.

Really will bring me into the theatre.

Really. I don’t already get bombarded enough with this kind of garbage. Really.

Ummmm...... /sarc

Could be interesting.

After I, II and III, marionettes with drunken puppeteers and a half way thought out plot would be a vast improvement.

A bit confused here. As I remember the theatrical saga, I-VI, Anakin Skywalker was never elevated to Jedi Master. Further, my understanding is that only a Master can instruct a Padawan (apprentice).

So how is it that Anakin Skywalker had a Padawan?

I’s rather like what you get when you cross an elephant and a rhinoceros.

Lucas jumped the shark when he had Anakin be the product of an immaculate conception.

That was egregiously offensive. (but instead people were upset about "Jar-Jar Binks".)

Go figure.

Almost as bad as casting the racer-building/racing Anakin with a kid still in diapers.

“I don’t think that word means what you think it means.”

Interesting google search term.

“Immacualte conception”

Worth googling as well.

It would have worked far better if Anakin had been at least 15. The age difference between a 10-year-old boy and 18-year-old Natalie Portman would not have been so absurd, as well as not having to deal with how Anakin went from being 8 years younger to being the same age in the next movie

immaculate conception...Interesting google search term.

No need to Google it-I learned the meaning in grade school.

The recent star wars movies were less than stellar. God only knows what the animated version will be like. I would like to see Episodes 7 with Mark Hamill as the elder Jedi like Ben, training young jedi’s. Maybe Lando’s and Hans kids. I think Wedge is the only nonessential character from 4,5,6 that didn't die. If I were writing the plot I'd make him the president of the new republic, have him assassinated. And Luke and his gang of Jedi's would solve the crime. A simple murder mystery.

It will be pathetic, as all that Lucash has done recently.
