It’d mean a lot more if she visited Mecca. But the Islamic supremacists would have her head if a kufir ever visited one of the segregated cities of the muslim world.

Along way from the days of “the sun never sets on the British Empire”.

Seems they are having the same problem we are with their leaders/figureheads making futile PC gestures that weaken the posture of the west.

Nothing wrong with it. A good leader should reach out to everyone. No harm can come off this.

the scarf I understand (modesty?) but what’s the significance of removing the shoes?

For the record, since she went there on her will...when in Rome, do as Romans.

A lot of people do that at home, too. In the mosque everybody wanders around in their socks on carpet. It's not uncomfortable and the carpet doesn't get mud tracked on it. It's not necessarily ritualistic.

Agreed.

When a leader visits a foreign land, he (or in this case she) ought respect their customs.

If she did this in England, it'd be a different story. But she was visiting Turkey, and it would have been wrong for her to do otherwise.

In this picture she clearly looks angry..perhaps at what is being said by the “man of the cloth”..She is not pleased to be there..and in all her pictures that are posted she looks disgusted..why she went there is anyone’s guess. She should have sent that dolt of a son, Charles and Camillia instead.

She won't become the Queen Mum as she IS the monarch. Her mother was given that title by the present Queen in order to clarify which Elizabeth was being addressed...Her mother became the Queen Mum, rather than refer to her as the Dowager Queen, upon the death of her husband who was the monarch. When the King died the present Queen Elizabeth II took the throne. The first Queen Elizabeth was the daughter of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn.

My take, exactly. She’s got game, though. At her age, my mother would have not been a good sport about it. I can hear her now. “You all just go ahead. I’ll stay here and find a bridge partner.” Nothing would prevail upon her to do otherwise.

Richard the Lionheart, Edward I, Edward III, Henry II, William the Conqueror and on and on...they could probably power the entire city of London just from all of her ancestors spinning in their graves. And what of Elizabeth? Elizabeth, a powerful and brave queen, a lioness, who stood against the Armada...and this is how her descendant and namesake does in front of the Turkeman? SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!

The people of England have become cowardly, craven, cringing, simpering dhimmis who deserve the chains the Muslims will bind them with. There are no men in England anymore.

Balderdash!!

She is simply showing courtesy by following the protocol when visiting a foreign country.

All heads of state observe these customs - except the white trash Clintons, of course.

I’d be ashamed of her if this had taken place in the UK. Since she was in a foreign country, however, it was only common courtesy for Her Majesty to observe local religious customs while visiting a house of worship. When in Rome and all that. Besides, it never hurts to reinforce the fact that all of us — even a queen — are servants of God.

That being said, HM appears disgusted by the whole affair. I suspect the Queen does not care for the Muslim faith (ditto that, Your Majesty). I sometimes wish she would simply dismiss Parliament and resume direct rule over the UK. I also wish for free beer on my birthday. Neither wish is likely to come true.

That’s right. She is being respectful; even if she thinks it’s wrong, she can’t afford to insult the Turks. Now her son, on the other hand, loves the Muzzies.

Putting on that scarf isn't a "custom", it's a sign of submission. At least, it's a sign of submission to them, and that's how they take it.

You call it any way you want to, I call it a disgusting display of abject dhimmitude of the worst kind. She is Queen of England and "Defender of the Faith" and she is adopting the subserviant position of a female Muslim by allowing herself to be debased with that thing on her head.

I assume they consider the mosque holy ground. Perhaps similar to when Moses was told by God to remove his sandals when he approached the the Burning Bush because he was standing on Holy Ground (I don't have the verse in front of me).

I am sure that the Queen only wished to make sure that she didn't incite lust in the loins of the muslim men.

I wonder if we could expect a President Hillary to do the same? We know that Pelosi wore a headscarf when she visited Syria seeking political advice.

Not submission - respect.

Same as women covering their heads when visiting the Pope. Or not shaking hands when meeting some orientals

Sorry, I don't view those things as being equivalent. Since the Muslims view it as an issue of domination and submission, we must view it that way too. You see, when someone does something as a courtesy for a foreign host's culture, it is not a sign of submission because the foreign host's culture usually does not view it that way.

It is very, very different when it comes to Muslims, because of the religious lens they filter everything through. For them, we are all infidels and getting the Queen to humiliate herself in that way is their way of imposing a bit of Sharia on a dhimmi visitor - and they view the capitulation of any foreign dignitary in this manner, as a manifestation of "Allah" confronting them with his power and the superiority of Islam. So when the people of Muslim nations see the Queen with that thing on her head, they don't see it as a sign of respect - or at least not just that - no, they also snicker and think "good dhimmi". They laugh because it is snookering some foreign dhimmi into an admission of the superiority of Islam and "Allah".

Trust me, you can finagle it any way you want to, but that is exactly how every Muslim viewing those pictures will receive it.

You may well be correct in your assumption of how the Muslims view this act of courtesy, but the fact remains that not to observe local customs would be a serious breach of protocol.

One needn't visit a local house of worship to show respect of local customs. No visit - no need to wear headsarf or anything like that.

The wrong thing was to enter a mosque, but she had done that, so she had to say "B" - put a heardscarf on.

She ought to be duly chastened by my words, and the words of everyone else in her country (who ought to be crying out over it). Her ancestors will have some words for her, someday, I’m sure. To think that a descendant of the same line that produced the Lionheart, could end up inside a Turkeman mosque with that thing on her head...her ancestors would be apoplectic. I repeat: shame, shame, shame.
