Not nearly as raunchy as the newer programs out there. (cartoons, or otherwise)

A lot of the other cartoons, such as Family Guy, are a lot worse, but still years ago The Simpsons went from all wholesome to double-entendres every show and stuff like Bart’s friend parents getting divorced, and Ned’s wife dying.

All wholesome? Did you ever watch the first Simpsons?

The Simpsons also use to be funny and fun to watch now they are desperate to keep up with Family Guy.

I think Futurama was much better. Too bad they ended that show.

I didn’t watch the first Simpsons because I couldn’t get past the poor production values.

Well, Maude was killed because the lady that did her voice quit. It was an excellent episode. The video Homer made to get Ned dating was hilarious.

And yes, that is a real issue of Christianity Today. In fact, there was an article about Ned in my Sunday paper.

If memory serves me right, the Simpsons because the longest running prime time cartoon way back in 1997, possibly early 1998.

I think either Fox is going to keep the Simpsons for one more year, breaking Gunsmoke's record, or quit at exactly 500 episodes.

After that, Fox should clean up all of the old Simpsons, digitally re-animate them, and sell it in a complete gift set.

I would love to have every episode on DVD, but I couldn't even begin to imagine the cost, let alone trying to justify spending that on DVDs of a TV show.

Will have to buy it, burn copies, and return.

Sad to say they aren’t all even worth watching. In 20 years there are some great moments though.

It’s a chuck of time to be able to even sit and watch them all again.

It reminds me of the new technology someone was writing about that would come bundled with 10,000 hours of movies already loaded on it. Great. More time in front of the tube. Or not.

When you make a conscious decision to watch an individual episode, instead of the one that happens to come on in rotation (first run or umpteenth repeat), the question is “where to begin”?

And shelving the discs for 400 episodes (4-8 per disc) also become an “investment” of space itself.

I like the show, and saw much of the run and if I care to get my tv fixed this year I may watch this season. For now I’m watching some DVDs selected from netflix on a laptop as time permits.

And it has since been renewed. The movie 'Bender's Big Score' has already been released. Three more will follow. Comedy Central will play them in episode format.

I remember being at a house party on Cape Cod when the premier episode came on.
That does seem like a LOOOONG time ago now.
I got sick of this show years ago, I can’t even stand to watch it anymore.
They should just quietly put it out of it’s misery.

I haven’t watched it in a long time either. It starting going downhill after fifth season or so, right around the time Conan O’Brien quit the writing staff. Still, those first five seasons were great TV.

Yes I agree. Simpsons used to be simple and yet entertaining and hilarious to watch.

Now? It's complete garbage. I can't believe there's still anyone watching this show after 20 years.

I have not watched it since they killed off Mrs. Flanders. I do not think that was necessary.

What's wrong with showing someone's wife dying? Or people getting divorced? It's a common occurrence.

LOL! And I mean that! I did not know Ned Flanders had this much attention.

I still frequently snack on Nachos Flanders Style - cucumber slices with a dab of cottage cheese on each one. They are so bland it's almost like nonfood but I'm hooked.

I dropped the show when Mrs. Flanders died. I usually do not like such changes but if they had a new voice for her it would have been ok with me.
